“Running to or running from?” Well, that was explained by
John Arcilla who was one of the casts in Thelma.
Recently, I attended a blogger’s night event with Thelma. It
was fun! The cast of Thelma were so happy while answering the questions of some
blogger, it was like we attended a comedy show, why? Because every time they
answer the question it was like dead serious at first but at the end of their
speech there’s always a humor.
Back to my introduction, It was very well said by John
Arcilla, he said like this “To all who will watch Thelma, you will find out if
Thelma is running to or running from, and that’s the story is all about, if she
will be running to or running from”. It
was an encouraging word from the star of Thelma.
Thelma s one inspiring movie. It tells the story of a mischievous and
tomboyish teenage barrio lass from Ilocos Norte. The story revolves around Thelma’s passion in
running and how she gets her life out of running. It is a message story which represents our
life and how we run our journey. Thelma
depicts that story.
Thelma is played by Maja Salvador, one of the country’s most
competent and talented young actresses.
Maja is the producer’s first choice to play the lead as they felt that
the physicality and character suited Maja best.
With this, Maja couldn’t help but be elated. Maja gave the most of everything in this
movie. As Director Paul puts in, “Maja
shed blood, sweat and tears to portray Thelma.”
The film also stars Tetchie Agbayani, John Arcilla, Eliza
Pineda, Jason Abalos, Sue Prado and with the special participation of
Philippine Track and Field champion, Elma Muros who plays Thelma’s running
coach. Presented by Time Horizon Pictures
in cooperation with Abracadabra Productions and Underground Logic, “Thelma” is distributed
by Star Cinema. The movie opens on
September 7.
As we see Thelma’s story unfold we will realize that life is
a race and we should all be inspired to win.
