Balikbayans arriving at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in Pampanga, will experience their warmest welcome yet with the opening of the Pinoy Homecoming Hospitality Center at the airport on November 29.
Spearheaded by the Department of Tourism (DOT), the homecoming center is part of the government's ongoing efforts to boost visitor arrivals from the balikbayan market by 25 percent in the next five years. Dubbed as the Pinoy Homecoming campaign, it primarily targets Filipinos based overseas, not only in the United States and Canada but worldwide.
A result of Presidential Proclamation No. 181 “Declaring the Years 2011 to 2016 as the Pinoy Homecoming Years” signed on June 3, 2011, the campaign supports Republic Act No. 6768, as amended, or the “Balikbayan Program.” Under the Balikbayan Program, overseas Filipinos (OFs) are given special privileges and benefits in recognition of their contribution to the growth of the Philippine economy in terms of foreign exchange inflow and remittances.
“This is a campaign that recognizes three things: the invaluable contributions of Filipinos overseas, our urgent need to develop and promote Philippine tourism further and how much can be achieved when government agencies work together,” shares DOT Secretary Ramon Jimenez. “We also have to tap into the market of second and third generation Filipinos abroad and encourage them to discover their roots.”
To reach this set of younger Filipinos abroad, the campaign also has a digital marketing component. Through the website www.pinoyhomecoming.ph, Pinoys abroad can easily access Philippine news portals, tourism products and services, practical balikbayan tips, Philippine holiday and festival calendars, as well as a directory of industry partners and the contact details of DOT’s international offices.
The campaign is supported by Globe Telecom, Duty Free Philippines Corporation (DFPC)and the over 700 partner-merchants nationwide. For more information on the campaign and balikbayan benefits, contact the Pinoy Homecoming Secretariat at 632 525-1255, 632 525-9318 local 268 or 244; fax to (632) 521-6165, or e-mail at tts@dotpcvc.gov.ph.
I was glad that I was invited to witness the launching of Archos newest generation Tablet PC. As we all know Moms are now having a taste of the techie stuff because we'll never know when will our kids ask us about this gadgets things so it is better to be informed and prepared, especially when Dads are not around.
Brand Manager Gelo of Archos discussed the details about their products. He even break some of our notion about the brand by revealing the background and history of Archos. With a relief, Archos was not the brand that we thought it is. After a few detailed explanation of Mr. Gelo on the other products of Archos, he then introduced their latest addition, the Archos Generation 9.
Comparing with other brands of Tablet PC, he point out some of the best feature that Archos have. It is quite good and it did have an edge on some of the brands.
All in all Archos launching made me think twice on choosing which brand of tablet pc to get. It becomes more complicated for a Mom like me. Anyway I'll get a hang of it any how.

Press Release
Local clothing brand BUM brings the Cosplay trend to the
fore with a one-of-a-kind fashion show at the SM Mall of Asia.
If you have a story to tell, don’t keep it to yourself.
Flaunt and let the world know through fashion.
This has been the youth’s battle-cry these days. Not only
are they daring, wearing their colors on their sleeves proudly, they are
pushing the envelope when it comes to dressing up, as well.
Even the term “costume play” or “cosplay”, which is the
act of dressing up as a fictional character inspired from an anime TV series,
or a character they idolized, has found its way into the youth’s wardrobe.
Cosplay is no longer a style but it has become a “trend” that is normally seen
and worn on the streets.
To underscore this “daring” and “experimental” style
philosophy, BUM is putting together
a fashion show on November 25 at the Music Hall of the Mall of Asia in Pasay
City.
Called Reveal Your Darkside, this fashion celebration is
the culminating event of an ongoing nationwide contest. Since August 8, BUM has
been receiving through its website (http://www.bumequipment.com.ph) countless
entries from young stylistas who want to share the world their passion for the
brand and the cosplay trend.
Interestingly, the fashion show will also showcase BUM’s new collection for the Holidays.
So cosplay and BUM fanatics can
expect a one-of-a-kind fashion event that would inspire them to express their
angst, passion, and identity more freely through BUM Collections. Mall goers will enjoy BUM’s treats as early as 1pm
with live games on screen. Shoppers can play live video games at the Music Hall
venue and win fabulous prizes courtesy of our sponsors Netopia Internet Café
and Ideal Vision. Register as early
as 1pm and get a chance to win prizes in our event raffle such as NOKIA C1
cellphones, five (5) pieces of P500 GLOBE prepaid loads and BUM gift packs. Raffle
draw will be held at exactly 6:30pm. BUM
products are available at BUM Boutiques and leading Department Stores
nationwide. For Show details, visit www.bumequipment.com.ph

CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA starred in his first international film A
Special Symphony. He is part of the first Pan-Asian musical TV series The
Kitchen Musical. He is also the only recording artist to receive a 4x Platinum
Record Award for Romance Revisited: The Love Songs Of Jose Mari Chan for 2011.
He worked with Grammy-nominated pianist Jim Brickman, K-Pop R&B trio One
Way, and fronted for the concerts of K-Pop sensations Rain and 2NE1. He also
topbilled jampacked concerts here and abroad. He also has numerous endorsements
tucked under his belt coupled with billboards all over the Metro and has
consistently won numerous awards and citations.
With all these
career highlights, Christian Bautista remains humble expressing and thankful
for all these blessings. “Ever since I took the very first steps in my career,
I cherished all the lessons and experiences I’ve gained through all those
years- the ups and downs, the highlights and the difficult moments. These
helped me hone my craft and led me to doors of opportunities. Every recognition
that goes my way, favorable or critical comments on my work challenge me to do
better because I owe it to my audience that I utilize my full potential,” says
Christian with a smile.
It is a dream of
many artists and performers to collaborate with some of the most respected
people in the international recording scene. But the chance of it happening is
pretty slim. That is unless you are Christian Bautista.
Today, Asiansation
Christian Bautista adds another feather to his cap as he launches his first international
album Outbound.
Outbound features
Christian’s collaboration with music producers and artists he met and worked
with from the United States ,
Korea , Japan , Singapore ,
and Indonesia .
“It’s the first
time that we want to try and attempt to do more outside the country. [And] Yes,
I’m very proud of this album,” says Christian, smiling.
The album consists
of eight songs which is a good mix of slow and upbeat ballads. The first single
All That’s Left offers Christian’s new, bolder sound, and further proves that
he is more than just a balladeer.
“Slowly nag-build
up kasi ‘yan because of The Kitchen Musical. Parang nabigyan ako ng confidence
to try something na kakaiba, na mas current na contemporary. So I told myself,
sige let’s try this,” says Christian.
While taping for
The Kitchen Musical, Christian never stopped to get in touch with some of the
region’s movers in the music industry until he met Tat Tong, composer of the
anthemic All That’s Left.
In a phone
interview, Christian shares, “Tat Tong kasi is a friend of Kewei [Tay ]. Kewei and I did a duet for Please Be Careful With
My Heart in Singapore .
She later on, introduced me to Tat. And then through e-mail, I asked him: ‘Hey!
I’m coming up with a new album. Do you have songs?’ So he gave us one [and] we
all liked it. After that, we told him na, ‘Okay, make three more! Haha. [And]
With Tat Tong kasi, steady lang kami e. We would throw ideas and stuff. And if
it doesn’t work out, we would always tell na okay let’s do the thing tomorrow.
We write and write and we never stop…”
And write they
did. The remarkable results were All That’s Left and the other song
Unphotographable.
Tat’s other
masterpieces-original songs in Outbound include What Can I Do and his masterful
arrangement on Christian’s cover of George Michael’s Faith, which is very
special for Christian because it was used in his first big solo number in The
Kitchen Musical.
Aside from
Christian’s collaborations with Tat, Outbound gathers its noteworthy works with
Grammy-nominated multi-platinum instrumentalist Jim Brickman for Never Far
Away, the K-Pop R&B trio One Way for Wrong Number, Indonesian songwriter
Satrio for the hit song I’m Already King, and with Avex Japan ’s amazing
Baby M for the lovely duet Sakura.
Christian’s music
videos always feature familiar and beautiful female celebrities: from Anne
Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heusaff, and Angel Locsin (in Beautiful
Girl) to Cristine
Reyes (in I Remember The
Girl) to Paula Taylor (in Tell Me Your Name) to Carmen Soo (in Afraid for Love
to Fade) to Angelica Panganiban (in Nakaraang Pasko) to Sarah Geronimo (in
Please Be Careful With My Heart).
In All That’s Left, it features CosPlay Queen Alodia Gosiengfiao. When asked what’s like working with her, Christian says, “Alodia’s beautiful, she’s talented, she stayed up with us [from] 8 PM to 8 AM. We danced all night long until 3 AM. It was fun.”
And while it’s
apparent that Outbound has drawn him out of his comfort zone, Christian admits
that it does not mean he will stop being a balladeer.
“For this album
talaga kasi medyo half-half. Half experimental, half-medyo ballad pa rin naman
siya. [And] Easy listening pa rin naman. Pero definitely I’m not going to drop
the ballads,” he says, smiling. “Kasi siyempre, nagsimula ako sa ballads and
du’n naman talaga ako kumportable. So hindi ko p’wedeng iwanan talaga ‘yun.”
As a performer,
Christian believes he’s improved, but he’s not reached his peak. “Honestly, I
do feel that I’m at my best so far. [But] I just hope I’m not at my best.”
He adds, “[And] As
I continue this journey, I have reached another turn on the road ahead. This is
the right time to pursue new paths and directions. And there is no better way
to begin this new and exciting phase than to share my latest work with you.
With your support and a personal sense of renewed energy and devotion, I am
ready to face the challenge of the future.”
Outbound is out
now in all major record bars nationwide under Universal Records.

Who among my sons is much of a look a like of my husband? LOL, just asking!
'Til next bonding moment.
We were settled and hoped that we will be able to get good shots of their presentations. The SM ChriSMs Christmas Campaign in SM Fairview is entitled “The Magical Kingdom of Christmas”. It’s an almost all Christmas star cast! The Gingerbread Man was there, Frosty The Snowman, The NutCracker, The Royal Family was there and of course Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the Big Man in the Red Suit himself, Santa Claus. It was really a joyful event.
Here’s more of the launching story…
Press Release
In the mountainous land of ice and snow, over the mighty river running south, lies a bright, shining kingdom so intense that it dazzles the eyes - The Magical Kingdom of Christmas. This is the depiction of what was unveiled in Grand Christmas Ball and Launch last Nov. 12 at SM City Fairview.
The Magical Kingdom of Christmas is the official centrepiece of SM City Fairview this year. The set-up is quite different from the usual Christmas centrepiece as it highlights not only the castle but also the trompe l’oeil - a painting which is cleverly designed to trick people into thinking that the objects represented in it are really there.
The launching was attended by Engr. Bien Mateo, VP for Operations and some officials of SM City Fairview. Mr. Mateo said in his message that this year’s theme is a tribute to the youngest customers and he invites everyone to help make every child feel the spirit, understand the true meaning of Christmas- giving.
One of the guest of honors, Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, echoed in her inspirational speech the joy Christmas brings to the whole family, children and community. Also present are the distinguished women in public service - Brgy. Captain Evangeline Dungca - Pasong Putik, Councilor Aly Medalla and Councilor Candy Medina of 2nd District, QC and Gov. Grace Padaca.
Highlight of the launch was the unveiling through a musical play which revolves around the young commoner named Gretel who was invited in the Grand Christmas Ball at the Christmas Kingdom along with the various Christmas characters such as Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, Nutcracker, Frosty the Snowman etc. The theatrical unveiling of the castle was even emphasized with the 100-member choir singing the official Christmas jingle “SM ChriSMs” which was originally sang by Maria Aragon, an internet child star sensation. Being that this year’s inspiration is the children, Santa Claus delightedly gave out gifts to the kids of Autism Society of the Philippines – Greater Lagro Chapter.
With this Christmas Launch, which kicked off simultaneously in all SM Supermalls nationwide, shoppers can expect a series of grand activities throughout the holiday season like the Santa Meet and Greet, Strings of Christmas, the Christmas Musicale, Caroling Cheers, Fireworks Display and the Santa Convention, a unique Christmas event at SM City Fairview, that aims to gather the best give givers in town on Dec. 18.
The Magical Kingdom of Christmas is waiting for you only at SM City Fairview until Jan. 8. For inquiries, you may call SM City Fairview Marketing Department at 9368388 loc 120.

K-O-A-L-A
Stands For...
Learn about the
cute and playful Koala with five interesting attributes that describe just what
kind of creature it is!
K-Kind
Though it may
seem a bit odd to some, describing an animal, especially a Koala, with a human
attribute such as kindness is totally justified. Koalas are kind animals simply because they
are herbivores. Big word, right? Being herbivores mean Koalas eat
nothing but plants or leaves—Eucalyptus leaves to be precise. This means Koalas
don't harm other animals or hurt them in any way for food. They are calm and
harmless and their only weapon against aggressors is to growl. Though sometimes
fierce in their own way when their safety is threatened, Koalas never hurt
humans or fellow animals and pretty much keep to themselves (they prefer to
live alone!) in their natural habitat.
O-Offbeat
The Koala is
like no other animal in the animal kingdom. Though its slow movements are
similar to the Sloth's, there is no other animal that resembles the Koala! Koalas have pear-shaped bodies that help them
maintain their balance while perching on tree limbs. Despite their plump
bodies, they are excellent climbers so they can climb smooth tree trunks easily
and quickly, and are also good swimmers who cross rivers to get away from floods
and predators. What is even more offbeat about the Koala is that despite its
climbing and swimming prowess, they move quite awkwardly on the ground.
A-Aromatic
To be aromatic
means to have “a strong distinctive fragrance” and our little furry friends are
extremely aromatic! No, they don't smell unpleasant. In fact, they have a very
comforting smell which is the aroma of the Eucalyptus leaves they eat all day
so they smell a bit on the “minty” side.
L-Languid
A word that may
not be common to one's vocabulary, “languid” is to be “lacking in vigor and
vitality.” Koalas are so languid that some people think they're lazy because
they sleep so much or because they seem to move in slow motion. They certainly
don’t ever seem to be in a hurry. But, there is a very good reason for such
behavior: Eucalyptus leaves are low in nutrients. Even though Koalas eat a lot
of them, the leaves don’t provide them with much energy. So koalas conserve
their energy by moving slowly and getting plenty of sleep. Lucky Koala!
One attribute
that makes this animal so amazing is its thick gray fur, which is so thick that
it’s almost waterproof. Their fur changes to adapt to the different
temperatures in their environment. Their woolly waterproof coats keep them warm
in cold weather and dry when it rains or when seasons change and the weather
warms up, they shed some of their fur to stay cool. It’s like the Koala has its
own multi-purpose clothing collection, ready for any type of weather!
Given these characteristics
of Koalas, it is no wonder that many people get hooked on another interesting
Koala—Koala’s March biscuit snacks, that is.
Koala’s March, with
all its flavor and goodness packed into small biscuit sizes, is best when shared
with friends and family—and all those you love.
Last October 26 I was able to attend the launching of Marie Digby’s “Your Love”. Straight from work I hurriedly went to venue. Don’t want to miss this opportunity.
Youtube has indeed made a lot of star, international and
local and one of them is Marie Digby.
She is one of Youtube’s phenomenon celebrities who garnered views of
nearly 20 million for her home made video of her acoustic rendition of
Rihanna’s “Umbrella” in 2007. In 2009,
she released her debut album “Unfold” which broke into the billboard charts at

Filipino culture is richly embroidered with both Spanish and Chinese influences, with cuisine as the centerpiece attraction.
How the two cultures have blended perfectly in its host Filipino country is revealed in the names that Chinese dishes were called around the 1900s, with some names surviving through the present era.
Ever heard of Morisqueta Tostada? Pueco con Agreo Dulce? Camaron Rebosado, Amplaya con Carne? All these spanish sounding dishes are actually delicious, authentic Chinese food. Fried Rice, Sweet Sour Pork, Shrimps in Batter and Bitter Melon with Beef are what they are, respectively. And certified foodies of yester years did not go hundting for "Chinese Food" when they had food cravings or wanted to eat out with family and friends. They looked for "Comida China" (literally Chinese food in Spanish" which to old Manilans referred to that distinct style of panciteria fare in Binondo for the early 1900's to the 1970's.
Now, Panciteria San Jacinto- one of the favourite Chinese restaurants of Manilans in the pre-war and post-war era which has survived to this day- has changed its name to Comida China de Manila. Located along E. Rodriguez, Jr. Ave. (C5) in Pasig City, the present day Panciteria San Jacinto is favourite destination of Chinese food aficionados in the metro. Big Chinese families, Pinoy families on weekend feasts, regular foodies, office workers int he area and seekers of good Chinese food pay regular pilgrimages to the place to satisfy their palates. The lure of bountiful lauriats, all time Chinese favourites and the discovery of new things on the menu (like dimsum and the unique, flavourful Comida China Soup) have lured them to Panciteria San Jacinto-Pasig since it opened in 1996.
"Panciteria San Jacinto was one of the famous and favourite destinations for "comida china" since the pre-war years (it was first established in 1894), and we have been privileged to keep its legacy going through the years. We are happy to have revived the name and identity of the famous restaurant. We are also proud that we have taken its cuisine to new heights and made Panciteria San Jacinto's comida china available to younger generations, thanks to our joint venture with its original owners. "explains Benny V. Torres, President of Comida China de Manila, Inc.
But Panciteria San Jacinto is only one of several Chinese restaurants that catered to old Manilans in that bygone era, Benny says. Only few have survived to this day.In July this year, the Torres family, which runs Panciteria San Jacinto-Pasig and other restaurants like Mom and Tina's and the Rd Rickshaw Rstaurant in Pampanga, decide to change the name of Panciteria San Jacinto to Comida China de Manila.
"We want to keep history alive and get younger generations in touch with the glorious past of Chinese restaurants along T. Pinpin street in Binondo, which by the way was originally named Calle San Jacinto. We chose Comida China de Manila as our new name because it is representative of all the panciterias of that era. Besides , the restaurant has evolved into something more than a panciteria. TO begin with our Pasig branch, a full service 400-seater restaurant, is well appointed and comfortable. Oour menu remains faithful to the classic Cantonese fare served in Binondo, complemented with new disher put together by our Chief Cook who began his career in the very first Panciteria Sn Jacinto restaurant along T. Pinpin stress. The new name will also suit the vintage Manila look of our interiors, which is in the works,"Benny adds.
The Torres family chose to take a different from the old panciteria concept of the Pasig restaurant by opting for a more formal and upscale ambience, says Benny, but the food at Comida China de Manila remains affordable to its clientele. Served ind desired portions to match both pocket and appetite, old favourites and new fare are offered in poquito (half small or grazing portions), small, medium and large serving sizes.
Catering and in house feasts are all still part of the COmida China de Manila offerings.
Younger generations who may not have ever heard of the term "comida china" are suddenly discovering the charm of experiencing Chinese food with Spanish titles, observes Benny.
"It's part of our mixed culture. The food itself and the names of the dishes are all part of our history. Perhaps through our new name we will be able to make younger generations become more aware and proud of our colourful past and the interwoven influences in our history," he concludes.
