After years as a young, accomplished actress, 16-year-old Bea Binene put out her long anticipated sophomore album titled “Dito Sa Puso Ko” released by PolyEast Records. On November 9, she will launch the album at the Harrison Plaza event center showcasing her ten new singles to entertain her legions of loyal fans.
The teen sensation is back to deliver the same high-energy performance to follow up the explosive success of the debut album “Hey It’s Me, Bea!”. Bea’s career in the pop world is in full swing as she returns with her teen pop tunes and a stage presence that commands full attention. “I really enjoyed doing the album…it’s like playing but creating something that I am really proud of at the same time” says Bea.
After dropping her successful debut CD, "Hey It’s Me, Bea!" the young singer/actress did not waste any time immediately heading back into the studio to record tunes for her sophomore album despite her busy schedule. “Hey It’s Me, Bea” was released last year and reached its Platinum record status-- an impressive feat for a 16-year-old juggling a successful career and home school at the same time. Being one of the most purely enjoyable albums since its debut, PolyEast Records also released “Hey It's Me, Bea! Limited Christmas Edition” and included Bea’s most favorite Christmas dance songs.
“My new album has more songs to offer to my fans and this time, we invited Ken Chan as my guest in the album. The songs were chosen by my label except for few songs I chose myself, “Bea adds. As the album title suggests, Bea speaks of teenage love and having fun. The album’s kick-off single is “Dito Sa Puso Ko” which was originally interpreted and composed by Ogie Alcasid – its old-school, yet fresh bubbly pop sound is now taking over the radio waves. With her sweet personality and knack for teen-targeting pop anthem, the album features ten tracks that include a team-up with a new teen-sensation Ken Chan with remakes that will surely bring you memories of 90s bubblegum pop. Ken Chan is a GMA artist and a host of the late night show, Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman. He already appeared in several shows of GMA Network in Tween Hearts and Time Of My Life.
Bea and her PolyEast Records producers freshen the 90’s sound with seven remakes inspired by the Sharon Cuneta’s “Highschool Life”; the carrier single and Ogie Alcasid’s “Dito Sa Puso Ko”; and DJ Alvaro’s “Ang Tipo Kong Lalaki” to name a few. Ken even gets into the retro-goes-pop doing a remake of “Nais Kong Malaman Mo” and “Sumayaw, Sumunod” which were originally by 70s band The Boyfriends. Unlike the previous album, “Hey It’s Me Bea” which she was joined by teen heartthrob Jake Vargas in a duet, the new album boasts a duet of Bea and Ken in an Ogie Alcasid hit in the 90s “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang”, the reminiscent Lea Salonga hit “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal” and the danceable “Whoops Kirri” only proves that the album has plenty to offer, evidenced by this enjoyable pop tracks with the sparkling jam between the two young artists.
“Asa Ka Pa” is the only original track in the album which Bea says, “I like the song because the experience of singing it is new to, because first, it’s a new compostion. The lyrics speak more than a love song or being young itself.”
Though she may seem like just another actress turned singer, Bea offers something more than what everyone expected. Bea, 16, is definitely a multifaceted artist behind young actress sheen and proudly gives a new flavor with the album “Dito Sa Puso Ko”-- from soft, slow ballads to upbeat-pop songs you’ll find yourself singing along to. Bea also adds, “In the album, we included few pictures of me and Ken for the buyers to enjoy our first team-up. And apart from that, they will also have a glimpse of how fun it is being young and singing what you feel sometimes.”
“Music has always been a part of me, and having a career in music has always been in my bucket list since I was still a kid. Now, I started learning how to play the guitars and I think I found a new love for it. Been playing the guitars with songs from the new album and I’m having fun”, Bea added.
Recently, Bea is currently on GMA’s comedy sitcom “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko” with Vic Sotto and is also a regular host every Sunday in Good News Kasama si Vicky Morales on GMA News TV. “Dito Sa Puso Ko” is also available for downloads on mymusicstore.com.ph and iTunes wordwide.
