A Mother’s Mission: Spreading Love, Service, and Hope

As a mother, it’s never easy to do everything for the people you love—especially when you also carry the responsibility of serving others. Balancing family and public service requires countless sacrifices, but the fulfillment of making a difference makes it all worthwhile. That’s why I’m especially grateful that this month, we celebrate Women’s Month—a time to recognize the strength, dedication, and limitless potential of women everywhere.

In honor of this special occasion, let’s shine the spotlight on a devoted wife and loving mother—Ms. Mary Rose Marbil. She is the wife of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil and serves as an adviser to the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc. This foundation extends much-needed assistance to critically ill police officers and their dependents across the country. But for Mrs. Marbil, this is not just an obligation—it is a personal mission to support PNP personnel and their families in times of need.

One of her most heartfelt initiatives is called LAB Virus, which stands for Love and Blessings Virus. She started this program to provide support to police personnel facing serious health challenges, ensuring that they receive the help they need when they need it most.

According to her, the Love and Blessings Virus Program was created to offer emotional and financial assistance to PNP personnel and their families struggling with health issues. Together with the officers and members of the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc., she is committed to uplifting the lives of PNP families.

When I asked how many beneficiaries the LAB Virus program has helped so far, she shared that they have supported nearly 500 beneficiaries nationwide—and they are hoping to extend their reach even further. While the financial assistance they provide may not be life-changing, it is a lifeline for those burdened by medical expenses. For many, even a small amount can mean the difference between getting the care they need or going without.

The foundation continues to travel to different regions, personally reaching out to provide aid. To sustain their efforts, they organize fundraising activities, including concerts like the Singing Cops, which was a huge success, raising significant funds for their cause. In addition, they conduct business-related seminars on soap-making, dishwashing liquid production, and other livelihood skills to help police families develop alternative sources of income.

But beyond all of her responsibilities, Mrs. Marbil is, above all, a mother. She describes herself as an ordinary wife and a doting mom to her only daughter, who recently got engaged. Now that she has retired from corporate work, she looks forward to spending more quality time with her family. And when her husband, PNP Chief Marbil, eventually retires as well, they plan to travel and cherish their time together. As a mother myself, I understand this longing deeply—because at the end of the day, what we truly wish for is to create lasting memories with the people we love.

Mrs. Marbil also has an inspiring message for all women:

“We are not just wives or mothers—we are capable of so much more. Let’s not limit ourselves to what others think we can do. Women are limitless. Being a woman should never be a hindrance. We have our own unique charm, and we should use it for meaningful things. With our talents, we can make a real difference in the lives of others. Do what is right and necessary.”

At the end of the day, we all have the power to create a positive impact—not just for our own families, but for others as well. So, Moms, let’s keep striving to uplift, inspire, and make the world a little better—one act of kindness at a time.
