Running, especially when done with a friend or loved one, is truly a fun and exciting way to achieve your fitness goal. It can also be a good way to get back on track to a healthy and active lifestyle.

This was shown in the bright faces of hundreds of running pairs who took part in the Robinsons Supermarket’s 10th Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run at the Parade Grounds of Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

Our family, who woke up very early just to attend this run, participated and enjoyed the day. It was a fun and exciting day to be fit and healthy. The kids loved the event very much specially the food part. It was one of our way of having a great bonding weekend. This is not our first time to join, we already joined the event celebration a few years ago. This year is quite different because this the first time that our kids went along with us.
In line with Robinsons Supermarket’s wellness campaign to continuously encourage more people to choose and live healthier lifestyles, the Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run gave everyone an opportunity to partner with friends and family, and run together towards the finish line.

“Through the years, the Fit & Fun Buddy Run has been a much-anticipated event for a lot of people. It’s our kick-off as we celebrate with the nation, Wellness and Nutrition month. It provides a fun gateway activity for fitness newbies who are just about to start their wellness journey and loyal runners,” said general manager of Robinsons Supermarket, Mr. Jody Gadia.

Hosted by volleyball superstar and TV personality, Gretchen Ho, the event also featured exciting booths with lots of freebies from Nestle Philippines, Johnson & Johnson, Fonterra, Unilab and Wyeth Nutrition, Unilever, International Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (IPI), Procter & Gamble, Abbott Nutrition, Getz Bros, Ecossential, Del Monte, Foodsphere Inc., and Philusa.

Coaches Jim and Toni Saret prepped-up the runners with a short work-out and invited them to register on-site for the Fit Filipino 1 Million Pounds National Weight Loss Challenge, the biggest on-ground and online wellness program in the country which aims to encourage everyone to pledge and lose weight.
The Fun Run is just one of the programs this July. Robinsons Supermarket is also giving away Healthy You snack platters for a minimum purchase of Php 3,000 inclusive of Php 500 worth of participating items of the Wellness Festival.

Aside from the fun that our family experience, we also went home with a big smile on our faces as we were treated with some goodies from Robinsons. Like I mentioned my kids loved the activities.  This is their first outdoor activity since they started their school.

Okay, for so many running events that I've been invited finally I gave in! Together with my hubby we were able to attend the celebration of health with Robinsons Supermarket as initiator of its event the 7th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run. The event aims to encourage more people to get engage in getting fit together with a buddy that's why they had this running event with someone else. So both of the runners should finish the run together. This is a healthier and fun way for buddies to enjoy the run.

The event happened last July 6, 2014 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, though we didn't run much it was still a fun event. Together with my hubby we were and friends, of whom we exchanged buddies, we were able to grasp the whole idea of running with a buddy. Someone to encourage the other to do more. Personally I enjoyed it and had a great time even though I wasn't able to run with my hubby still it was fun having Marjorie as my running mate.

According to Jody Gadia, Robinsons Supermarket General Manager, "We organize the Fit & Fun Buddy Run every year not only to promote health and wellness but also to strengthen the bond for family and friends."

The participants for this year in the 5k and 10k events numbered to around 4,500 recreational runners, including the members of the national rugby team, the Philippine Volcanoes, and other celebrities. All finishers of the run are treated with some groceries and aside from the goodies runners also enjoyed the offerings of each booth present in the event.
Top pair finishers received prizes from Robinson Supermarket officials.  5k winners won a trip to Coron, Palawan while the 10k winners bagged a trip for two to Phuket, Thailand.  While the 2nd to 5th place finishers took home Gift Certificates as consolation prizes.  Special awards and gift pack were also given by event sponsors to outstanding race buddies.
