“Huwag Kang Mangamba” is a series that stars Andrea Brillantes and Francine Diaz who give life to the characters of Mira and Joy, respectively. ABS-CBN ticketing platform Kapamilya Tickets (KTX) is hosting a slew of exciting live and varied experiences this February-March with events catering to every Filipino, including the highly-anticipated “Tabing Ilog: The Musical,” ABS-CBN shows, and more.

“Tabing Ilog,” the musical adaptation of the iconic 90s teen barkada TV series, is already on sale via KTX. This musical stars some of theater’s celebrated actors with some of the most promising discoveries from ABS-CBN’s talent search “Star Hunt.” This is produced by Teatro Kapamilya. The show will run beginning March.

KTX also gives Kapamilyas a chance to score exclusive discounted tickets to the opening weekend of Tanghalang Pilipino’s “Batang Mujahideen,” a timely play about the complex interactions between Christians and Muslims, in the southern part of the country. The play is written by Malou Jacob, directed by Guelan Luarca, and stars the Tanghalang Pilipino Actors Company. The discounted tickets will be for the February 21 and 22 shows. The show will run until March 8.

For Kapamilyas in the Visayas, Jonathan Larson’s hit musical “Rent” will be staged by Summit Theatre Productions. It stars a host of actors from Guam, Manila, and the Visayas. West end star Ima Castro leads the cast. “Rent,” considered one of the most successful musicals in history, recently had a TV musical version. It goes onstage February 21-22.

KTX also supports University productions. Dulaang UP’s hit “Nana Rosa” is having its rerun this February 27 until March 22. This production talks about the life of Rosa Henson, who went public and boldy recounted her experiences as a Comfort Woman. This production exhibits the glorious triumph of the human spirit.

Teatro Tomasino is staging the Palanca award-winning script of Dustin Celestino – “Ang Pangahas na si Pepe Rodriguez,” which tells the tale of how dangerous an ideology, regardless of the accuracy of interpretation, can be. It goes onstage February 13-15, at the Albertus Magnus Auditorium, UST.

Also, tickets to Ateneo Blue Repertory’s much-awaited staging of the “Next To Normal” is now available on KTX. The musical is topbilled by Cris Villonco, with Jef Flores, Tim Pavino with some of the most talented members of the Blue Rep company, and directed by Missy Maramara. This musical heartfully discusses issues about mental health.

For Dulaang Ateneo, KTX will also offer tickets to their upcoming offering, Caryl Churchill’s “Top Girls.” This production of the classic feminist play boasts of having two sets of cast – one all male, the other, all female. Tickets will be available via KTX very soon.

Also, Ateneo Entablado will stage a musical version of another Malou Jacob play, “Macli-ing,” and KTX will have tickets available online. “Macli-ing” tells the story of Macli-ing Dulag, an assassinated Kalinga leader and their fight for their ancestral lands. Season passes to Repertory Philippines’ shows (Stage Kiss, Anna in the Tropics, Carousel, and Snow White and The Prince) will also be available via KTX very soon.

Myx and Star Events team up to bring “Dream Catchers,” a concert featuring “Pinoy Big Brother” alumni Kiara, Shawntel, and Lie with Jem Macatuno, and some of the most promising artists of Star Music. Tickets to this event are already available.

KTX is also inviting lovers of all ages to celebrate the month of love with the biggest hits of OPM icons Basil Valdez and Jamie Rivera in “Love and Light,” a dinner cum Valentine concert to be held this February 13 at the Grand Mayuree Ballroom, Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati.

Passionate music fans can catch “Malasimbo 2020,” which will be held at the La Mesa Ecopark this February 29 - March 1. Headling the music festival are known international and local acts Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles, Mike Love, Laneous, Anomalie, Jesus Molina, Matteo Mancuso, Uncomfortable Science, Brigada, Project Yazz and Talata ni Tala. Foremost DJs, Ean Mayor, Roberto Sena, Deej Fabian, Bass Relief, Norris King, Bing Austria, Rei Ka, Bignay Sound System, and Jingga Who, will also perform impressive sets. Ten percent of the proceeds of the festival will be donated to ABS-CBN Bantay Kalikasan.

Two families will fight for love in the newest family drama starring Xian Lim, Yam Concepcion, and Kim Chiu in “Love Thy Woman,” which premieres on ABS-CBN this February 10 (Monday).

The series features the much-awaited teleserye comeback of Kim and Xian’s love team, marks their first time working with Yam after her breakout role in “Halik,” and brings together a star-studded cast that includes Eula Valdes, Sunshine Cruz, Zsazsa Padilla, Ruffa Gutierrez, and Christopher De Leon.

It revolves around a modern Filipino-Chinese family headed by patriarch Adam (Christopher), who is determined to keep his family intact despite having two of them. Onscreen love team and real life sweethearts Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla remained Kapamilyas as they sign their respective three-year contracts with the network yesterday, January 15.
After working on projects separately for more than a year, the phenomenal box office couple shared their sentiments on what people should expect, now that the sought after KathNiel tandem will be back on TV this year with an upcoming teleserye, “Tanging Mahal.”
“It’s going to be something fresh, especially that we have waited for this to happen again. I think that the fans are really excited to see us work together again, and personally, we are excited for this, too,” Daniel shared.

Aside from his project with Kathryn, Daniel also mentioned his excitement about his movie titled “Whether the Weather is Fine” with ABS-CBN executive and veteran actress Charo Santos-Concio.

“I’m happy. More than the subscribers, I’m more delighted towards the comments that we receive because we do not know that a simple glimpse into our personal lives would have a positive effect on them,” Kathryn shared.

One of the number one fan of Basketball, Senator Manny Pacquiao will give an interesting view of Filipino Basketball as the created league, the Maharlika Pilipina Basketball League (MPBL) kicks off this coming January 25. This gives fresh Filipino Basketball talents from local communities and former collegiate and professional players their chance to shine on national TV at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The opening ceremonies, followed by a match-up between the Paranaque Patriots and Caloocan Supremos, will air live on ABS-CBN S+A starting at 7pm.

Seredipitously, we are celebrating the anniversary of the MBA (Metropolitan Basketball Association) this year, which had the same concept and objective," he said.

Similar to the MBA, the MPBL features teams that represent a province, city or municipality in the country and has a home and away format that will give the teams a chance to play in their home court in front of fans. Currently, the league has 10 teams from Metro Manila and Luzon representing Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Caloocan, Imus, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Paranque, Quezon City and Valenzuela. They plan to eventually include teams from Visayas and Mindanao.

MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes also said that each team is required to have at least three players that are truly homegrown to the area. "The advantage of this is really the pride of the players playing for their respective provinces and cities. We also believe that it will be more exciting because of the support of the fans for their teams. In the preseason , we can really see that they are exited as they aslo want to see their home players succeed," he said.

MPBL team coordinator Emmerson Oreta, a former professional player like Duremdes, added that their long-term goal is to have all teams featuring all homegrown players, like their preseason champion , the Bulacan Kuyas.

Helping Duremdes and Oreta is former professional and national team player Zaldy Realubit, who heads the operations, and assistant commisioner Satar Macantal, Pacquiao's childhood friend who played for Pacquiao's local team and helped him organize basketball leagues in thier hometown of General Santos City.
To further encourage fans to watch the opening at the Araneta Coliseum, Vegafria said the MPBL will be giving away one car and ten motorbikes on January 25.

Horror film fans are in for a treat as one of ABS-CBN’s premier artists, Kim Chiu, stars in Star Cinema’s spine-chilling horror-mystery movie of the season “The Ghost Bride”.
Reuniting with the master filmmaker Chito S. Roño, this is the third time Chiu is going under the helm of Roño after “The Healing” in 2012 and “Etiquette for the Mistresses” in 2015.

“The Ghost Bride”, explores a very different kind of wedding practice of ghost weddings, that is rooted in ancient Chinese culture and tradition.
“Arranged marriage is common sa mga kapatid nating Chinese, but there is darker side of the tradition”, explained Roño. “There are women who are arranged to be married with dead people, which is being discouraged not only by the government but also by the women themselves”.

The movie is centered on the life of Mayen (Chiu) – a girl who will gamble her life to a secret Chinese tradition, upon the advice of the mysterious matchmaker Madame Angie Lao (Alice Dixson), to help her family.

Mayen will enter a bizarre and unfamiliar world where she will have to marry the dead for others to live.

“The Ghost Bride” exposes a myriad of strange practices, both ancient and modern, that continues to affect certain groups of the Filipino-Chinese community, specifically in Manila’s fabled Chinatown district of Binondo.

The film may fall under the horror genre, but Chiu believes it goes beyond that. “Hindi naman siya as in super takutan lang, kasi nando’n ‘yong truth, e, nando’n ‘yong tradition, ‘yong curse, ‘yong kapalit ng ginawa mo (It is not just about scaring people. It also shows truth, tradition, and reminds us that everything we do have consequences.),” she explains.

Two of the Philippines’ largest and leading multi-media conglomerate, ABS-CBN’s brightest stars Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga reunite in Star Cinema’s latest movie offering, “Last Night”.


The film, directed by hitmaker Joyce Bernal, is the reunion project of Pascual and Gonzaga after their box-office film “Starting Over Again” in 2014. This also serves as the big screen comeback of Gonzaga after her last film “You’re My Boss” in 2015.
In the film, Gonzaga will give life to Carmina, a bright-eyed, idealistic young woman who has given up on life. “Sometimes you feel na you always have it together but in reality, you are really broken in the inside”, she shares.

Pascual plays Mark, a businessman who has lost the will to live. Pascual identifies with the humanness of Mark. He understands how Mark was at the end of his rope and opted for his last resort to end all his worries.
“Naintindihan ko iyong pagiging human niya. Naintindihan ko iyong reason niya, kaya naintindihan ko iyong pagiging tao niya. As my character, I was reaching my boiling point kaya I wanted to end it. I was coming from these troubles na kinasuotan ko, and being left alone --- parang that was my last resort (I understand him and his reasons, human as he is. To channel my character --- I was reaching my boiling point which is why I wanted to end my life. I knew the troubles I got involved with, and being left alone --- that was my last resort)”, he expounds.

Their paths cross during the lowest points of their lives. Believing they are on to the last night of their lives, they make a pact that starts as a friendship and eventually blossoms into love.

As Pascual and Gonzaga mark the comeback of their team up with very different roles, producer Star Cinema, together with N2 and Spring Films take the bold move of exploring a new movie genre –-- night romance --– a tale of a dark but hopeful love story.

The unconventional screenplay is written by actress Bela Padilla. This is the fourth screenplay she has written, and the first to be produced by Star Cinema. “This is really one for the books for me,” Padilla gushes. “Ang laking honor na iyong script na sinulat mo from scratch, ang nag-produce pa Star Cinema, N2, at Spring Films; and director ko pa, Direk Joyce Bernal; ang artista ko pa, Toni and Piolo. What more can you ask for? (It is such a great honor that the script I wrote from scratch was produced by Star Cinema with N2 and Spring Films; and it is directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal, and stars Toni and Piolo. What more can you ask for?)
The film may be ‘dark’, but Gonzaga says it also sends a message of hope and love. “Mare-realize mo na ang sarap magmahal, ang sarap mabuhay, at ang sarap ma-experience ng buhay (It will make you realize how good it feels to love, to live, and to live life to its fullest.)”, she beams.

Padilla echoes Gonzaga’s sentiments and adds: “You want to give people hope. When there is darkness, there’s light. There will always be love”.
