It is an artful interactive and fun experience at SM City North EDSA as they open the ART KARNIVAL. A fun place at SM City North EDSA where their exhibits invites people from all walks of life to experience art first hand.




This is no ordinary exhibit but it is one of Manila's hippest contemporary art galleries in partnerhsip with Vinyl on Vinyl. Instead of having the usual activities, SM City North EDSA initiates a different mall-going experience through  a voyage of discovery of the visual arts. SM City North EDSA supports young artists Anjo Bolarda, Bato, Blic, Garapata, Jeffrey Jay Jarin, Tyang Karyel, VOV Studio, and Whooop. This edgy initiative by SM City North EDSA hopes to spearhead a new appreciation of art in the north.


Each piece in this exhibit was carefully selected and placed in areas that would bring not only the art piece itself to life but the surrounding area as well. As mall-goers walk the meandering path, installations pop out at them, drawing their eyes to their surroundings, stimulating interest. This whimsical almost fantasy-like world perfectly complements Skygarden's tenants.


For mall-goers, this is going to be a fun day strolling around and spending the day at SM North EDSA seeing those different arts at Skygarden. For us, it will definitely another bonding moment. Hubby loves art very much and into it as well. He also does some paintings so he will for sure enjoy visiting this exhibit at SM North EDSA. My kids too will really appreciate the exhibit since their Daddy showed them how to appreciate, love and like art works.








So Mommies, bring your whole family at the SM North EDSA Skygarden for the Art Karnival Exhibit, it will be your bonding moment with them too while appreciating the artworks.



Come to SM City North EDSA's ART KARNIVAL at the Skygarden. The exhibit which runs the entire length of the Skygarden, showcases unique installation pieces by each featured artist curated specially for the space by Vinyl on Vinyl. The exhibit runs from April 21 to June 12, 2017.

 

   

 

 

Moms are supposed to be artsy patsy but this mom is somewhat out of it. So, the only thing that I could do is of course admire them. My hubby is an artist and that's why when it comes to arts he comes in handy, most especially when it comes to kids artworks. 

Since I mentioned that I'm an admirer of art, this one is something I would like to share. Top society photographer Alex Van Hagen, together with his brother, master copper etcher Han, will once again hold their highly successful joint exhibit at The Gallery of Peninsula Manila from March 6 to March 15, 2015. Titled Van Hagen and Van Hagen: Brothers in Art 5, the exhibit will feature stunning photos by Alex and exquisite copper etchings from his brother Han.  

 

Aside from being the photographer of choice for the rich and beautiful, Alex is well-travelled and has a keen eye for details. When he is not pointing his lenses at famous personalities in posh events, he likes to explore beautiful landscapes, still life and cityscapesaround the world. With nature as his inspiration, most of Alex’s photographs are green. He isalso fascinated with geometric shapes and its play with light and shadow, have produced equally stunning modernistic works.

 

Han Van Hagen on the other hand is one of Europe’s contemporary masters of copper etching.  One of the founders of The Etch-club of The Hague, Han was educated at the prestigious Royal Academy for Arts and Design in The Hague and enjoys a reputation as one of the top 20 practioners of his art.

 

Han’s copper etchings are highly prized and have been exhibited around the world. Exquisitely detailed and almost photographic, his diverse works include landscape and architecture of old castles in the Netherlands and Europe. But he draws his inspiration from his farm which he calls home. Here, he produced fantastic etchings of birds, sheep, cows and bulls.

 

Alex and Han had their first joint exhibit in 2007. The sold-out exhibit was praised by Manila’s art connoisseurs and collectors. Since then, they have mounted three equally successful exhibits. Presented by Fila and The Peninsula Manila and supported by Belo, Bench, Century Properties and Philippine Tatler, these artistic brothers are once again ready to capture the attention of Manila’s art scene with their fifth.

 

 

What happens when a young gay man falls in love with a woman? That’s the central conceit behind Red Turnip Theater’s second offering, COCK by Mike Bartlett. A sold-out hit when it first premiered in London in 2009 and subsequently during its off-Broadway run a year later, COCK revolves around a gay couple whose rocky relationship derails when one of them sleeps (and falls in love) with a woman. Debates over one’s sexual identity explode when all three decide to sit down and “duke it out” over dinner. Hilarity ensues when another unexpected guest turns up and loyalties are put to the test. As one character puts it, “It’s the ultimate bitch fight”.

The New York Times calls COCK “a terrific, tense little comedy” while The Huffington Post hails it as “a terrific contemporary play that puts much of other theatre to shame”. This critical darling is the perfect bookend to Red Turnip’s maiden season.

Fresh off the success of their critically-acclaimed CLOSER last October at Whitespace, Red Turnip promises another unique, in your face theatrical experience with COCK. The vision of five estab-lished actors (Ana Abad Santos, Topper Fabregas, Jenny Jamora, Cris Villonco and Rem Zamora), Red Turnip aims to engage theatergoers with the sort of material that seems to be in short supply in the country—the straight play.

Rem Zamora makes his directorial debut with COCK.“We’re excited to be back in Whitespace. A lot of people who came to CLOSER said they enjoyed the intimacy of the experience and the space. That was in Hall B. We’re going even more intimate this time in the smaller Hall A. COCK also plays in the round so it feels like you’re watching a fight in an arena—no frills: just words and pure conflict in the ring, and an intense involvement in the audience.”

Zamora has assembled a tight cast of theatrical heavyweights for COCK’s Manila premier: Topper Fabregas (Boeing Boeing, The Producers), Niccolo Manahan (Next Fall, Doubt), Jenny Jamora (Mind’s Eye, A Little Night Music), Audie Gemora (Sweeney Todd, Les Miserables) Fabregas is John, a young man caught between his gay lover and his growing attraction to an-other woman- W, played by Jamora. Niccolo Manahan makes a theatrical comeback as M, John’s lover who isn’t about to let him go without a fight. “I feel ‘Cock’ will be a great experiment for me; an experiment in balancing my life with the things I enjoy doing, and an experiment in pushing my range. I don’t know where this ex-periment will lead but its an incredible opportunity that I’m thankful for.”

Rounding off this impressive cast is theatre stalwart Audie Gemora as F, M’s well-meaning father whose sudden appearance at dinner throws everyone for a loop. “The birth of a theater group is always exciting and eventful with fresh artistic vision and passion. I am thrilled to be part of Red Turnips 2nd offering, ‘Cock’. This is Rem Zamora's directorial debut and my first time to be acting opposite brilliant young actors Niccolo Manahan and Jenny Jamora, while Topper Fabregas takes on his most complex character yet. Together we jump into a crackling cock fight of personalities, emotions and words.”

COCK is a comedy… with bite. No props, scenery or furniture. Just actors, sharp dialogue and some clever staging. All essential. Absolutely Red Turnip.
