20th Year Anniversary in the Entertainment Industry

It has been a fruitful 20 years for Christian Bautista in the showbiz industry.

People first got a glimpse of Christian as a contestant in Star In A Million, a Philippine reality show aired on ABS-CBN, winning 4th place in the competition in 2003. After the contest, he signed a recording contract with Warner Music Philippines and released his first self-titled debut album which earned a multi-platinum record award. This established his name in the OPM industry and made his songs “The Way You Look At Me”, “Colour Everywhere”, and “Hands to Heaven” into classic hits. It paved the way for the singer’s popularity not just in the Philippines, but in Southeast Asian countries as well, mainly in Indonesia.

Christian eventually transitioned to being a regular in ABS-CBN’s variety show ASAP. In 2011, he was tapped to star in a musical series, called the Kitchen Musical which aired all the Asian network AXN, with fellow Stages talent, Karylle, and other Asian and Filipino talents in Singapore. During this time In March 2013, the singer transferred to GMA Kapuso network and is now running 9 years with the management. He remains a regular on AOS, and as a mainstay pillar judge in the highly successful singing competition show called The Clash.

In his 20 years in the business, Christian remains true to his musical core and continues to evolve as a performer not only is he continuing to delight audiences with producing and performing songs for his supporters. He has written, and even produced a few songs such as Kapit, his single he wrote and produced called Ako Naman and sung by Jessica Villarubin song which won an Awit award in 2022.

Christian Bautista stirred up fans’ excitement with his 20th Anniversary not only in the Philippines but in Indonesia as well! Last October 8, 2022, he performed at Atlas Beach Fest Culinary Grounds in Bali, Indonesia for his “The Way You Look At Me’ concert.

Titled "The Way You Look at Me," the "serenade concert" will be held at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati on January 28 at 8PM.

As the name suggests, The Way You Look At Me: 20th Anniversary Concert, is a special celebration of the OPM artist’s two decades in the music industry where he will serenade fans with his songs from early days of his career up to now. Aside from the song, "The Way You Look at Me," The artist’s other hits include "Hands to Heaven" and "Colour Everywhere."

The action film, which is directed by multi-Palanca award-winning Writer Njel De Mesa, is set to be an intense ground-breaking, in-depth, critical, and edge-of-your-seat look on the Philippines' current drug war. which will have the audiences see the various aspects and opposing views of the big issues in the country. The film is expected to premiere later this year.

Having a multitude of accolades under his belt doesn’t stop Christian Bautista from pursuing new ventures. Last June, the City of Manila and Mayor Joseph Estrada presented Asia’s Romantic Balladeer with the “Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan” award for his contribution in the local and international music scene. Christian said in an interview that receiving the award felt “close to home” because the awardees were carefully chosen by “those within the [Manila] community” themselves. Aside from being a critically acclaimed icon in the music industry, the singer is also known for his character, Winston, in GMA-7’s hit television show “My Love From The Star” which airs from Monday to Friday and also stars Jennelyn Mercado and Gil Cuerva.

The renowned hit-maker recently launched his latest single, Kapit, under Universal Records. The track, which Christian describes as one that speaks of “holding on” in the face of a relationship’s trials, is the theme song of GMA-7’s primetime Koreanovela, “Innocent Defendant”. The Korean TV drama is scheduled after “I Heart Davao” and before “Saksi” on the premier television network. The music video for the said song, shot in Solaire Resort and Casino, premiered last month as well. The carrier single served as a sneak peek for Christian’s upcoming album, which the sought-after vocalist reveals is a new phase and a kind of self-rediscovery.

The second single for the much-anticipated album is entitled Huling Harana, which Christian explains is a track that veers away from the typical Broadway vibe. “It’s a song about holding on despite the many hardships of any relationship,” says the award-winning balladeer as he shares his inspiration behind ‘Kapit’, his newest single under Universal Records, which he recently released via online streaming.

Co-written by Christian himself together with Bryan Lotho of Sonic State Audio Productions, ‘Kapit’ offers a glimpse of what is next for Asia’s Romantic Balladeer, who is currently working on his new album, his first studio album since his platinum record Soundtrack, which was launched in 2015.

Already regarded as one of the premier and most sought-after balladeers of his generation, not only in the Philippines but also in Southeast Asia, Christian’s passion for music remains as strong as ever as evidenced by the work he is putting in in his new album.

Despite his busy schedule juggling his acting career (he is currently taping episodes for the Philippine remake of My Love from the Star) and his first love, Christian, a certified hit-maker with eight platinum albums under his belt, is bent on continuing what he does best – giving his loyal fans songs that will forever touch their hearts.

Unlike his previous albums, which feature mostly remakes of classics and popular soundtracks and theme songs of movies and telenovelas, Christian regards the new album as some sort of self-rediscovery and a new phase in his already stellar music career.

“This album is a journey to find my next music path, a challenge to write more songs and to continue writing songs for others” says Bautista, who is fresh from his stint at the recent ASEAN meeting held in Manila, where he sang the annual regional convention’s theme song.

The new album, which is set for release very soon, will contain mostly original songs including ‘Kapit’ and is sure to make music fans fall in love with Christian’s soothing voice and legendary song-writing prowess. All songs in the new album will be co-written and co-produced by Christian Bautista himself with the help of Universal Records.

Christian Bautista signed the contract with Universal Records executives on March 14, 2017. Present during the contract signing were Universal Records General Manager Kathleen Dy-Go, Operations Manager Peter Chan and Christian's manager Carlo Orosa. Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista, with his soothing voice and memorable ballads, will serenade those who will watch his Heart’s Day show “Ace of Hearts,” February 14, 8 p.m., at the Ace Hotel, Kapitolyo, Pasig. The show will be his first V Day show in the country in recent years.

“It feels good to, once again, be part of the Valentine’s Day celebration of Filipinos – may they be single, in a relationship, or married,” says Christian. “Iba pa rin siyempre ‘pag Pinoy ang nag-se-celebrate ng Valentine’s.”
