How long have I been covering the SunPIOLOgy events? I really can't remember but there's one thing I'm sure I get to picture every event its ambassador, Piolo Pascual. This year, Sun Life Philippines together with its long-time ambassador Piolo are once again joining hands for SunPIOLOgy, a sporting event that aims to encourage more Filipinos to live healthier lives.



Now on its 11th year, the event carries the theme “SunPIOLOgy Xone” and will feature the following highlights: Sun Life Virtual Run, Sun Life Cycle PH, and Sun Life Resolution Run.



“Sun Life aims to offer Filipinos more avenues to pursue their health goals. With SunPIOLOgy, we are able to make the pursuit fun and engaging through a variety of sporting events, while the charity component makes it more meaningful and memorable,” Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa said. “We are thankful that as we mark 11 years of SunPIOLOgy, we continue to grow our community and effectively promote the importance of living healthier lives.”



Sun Life Virtual Run: Run anytime, anywhere A new event this year, the Sun Life Virtual Run is a long-distance race that participants may complete anytime, anywhere. Participants from different parts of the country may challenge themselves to complete an accumulated distance of 50 or 125 kilometers which can be spread over 30 days. This way, runners can pace themselves and freely strategize in accomplishing their target distance within the prescribed period. Progress is tracked using a GPS watch, a fitness band, a running app on a smartphone, or by taking a photo of the progress on the treadmill and submitting it via www.takbo.ph.

Registration for Sun Life Virtual Run is ongoing at www.sunpiology.com and will be open until October 14, 2019. The run period will be from October 15 to November 15, 2019.

Sun Life Cycle PH: Family bonding on wheels
 

Nurturing the Filipinos’ growing love for cycling, Sun Life Cycle PH is back to take cyclists on fun and exciting routes that will run from Bonifacio Global City to Pasay City. Participants of all fitness levels are welcome to join. Categories for the Sun Life Cycle PH are: Tricycle Ride (100 or 500 meters) designed for children ages two to five; Kids Ride (30-minute Solo or Family Ride) for children between the ages six to 15; Short Ride (20 kilometers) for participants 10 years old and above; and Long Ride (40 kilometers) for participants 14 years old and above. With partially closed roads and kid-friendly biking paths, the event can be a chance to bond with the entire family. It may also serve as an introduction to races for cycling enthusiasts.

Sun Life Cycle PH will take place on November 23, 2019. Registration is ongoing at sunlife.cycleph.com and will be open until November 22, 2019.



Sun Life Resolution Run: Race to fight diabetes An exciting and energizing way to kick off Sun Life Philippines’ 125th anniversary in 2020, the Sun Life Resolution Run is a race that aims to get everyone into a healthy mindset as the year starts. Also hosted by Sun Life in select Asian countries, increasing awareness in diabetes prevention and management is one of the company’s advocacies that is especially crucial in the Philippines, as the disease has been declared as an epidemic in the country.



The Resolution Run will feature the “125 Xone,” where runners will pass through “xones” aligned with the diabetes prevention theme. Moreover, 125 lucky runners will also get to win electronic gift cards worth P1,250, which they can redeem in various partner stores.

Attended by some of the country’s brightest stars, the run will double as a charity event that will benefit the Hebreo Foundation, Noordhoff Foundation, and Star Magic scholars.



Sun Life Resolution Run will take place on January 18, 2020, at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. Registration will begin on November 15, 2019, at www.sunpiology.com and select Toby’s Sports Stores until race kit supplies last. Race categories and further details will be released soon.

Yours truly have been an avid fan of fun runs and other festive events, not only in the metro but also in other parts of the country, as a proof of that you'll read some of my stories here in Mommy's MAG Life. Today, I'll be sharing one of the upcoming event this coming December 2018 and take note it is an event that will happen in the Visayan region. Amidst the historic landmarks, churches and houses that has spanned for centuries, the municipality of Zarraga, Iloilo will serve as host of LABAN NG LAHI 2018 (Global Platoon Run Challenge).

 

LABAN NG LAHI is an advocacy project organized by Camboayon Sports Events Management wherein proceeds will go to their livelihood programs and their partner organizations across the country. This is also part of the town’s annual week long celebration of the ZARRAGA PANTAT FESTIVAL to be held this December 16-18, 2018.

The event is also for peace advocacy, as this aim to welcome groups like the CPP/NPA, MILF, MNLF, CPLA, RPA-ABB, for them to participate in the name of National Peace and Reconciliation.


The organization will also be funding "Itikan Love Projects" which is a duck raising program aimed to benefit 1000-2000 of the poorest households per province. This also will hasten to improve and support local and national tourism efforts so people would get to see a quaint Filipino town as its 24 barangays welcome you to Zarraga, one of Iloilo’s charming municipalities.



Of course this festive event organized by COL JONATHAN BALDEVARONA and PROFESSOR NOLAN BANDA will be joined by different stars who will be performing at the Laban ng Lahi 2018.

The ZARRAGA PANTAT FESTIVAL 2018 will also be having a whole day affair (September 16) at the Saintsville Subdivision grounds which starts at 2:30PM (assembly) with a parade of stars starting promptly at 3PM. It's July once more and it's Buddy Run again. It is one of the runs that my family is waiting for every year, because this is the only time that we're bonding in a fun run.



My kids really enjoyed it every year, even my eldest wants to try the 10km already. But this year it's a no run moment, because of so much blessings from above, "the rain". We just joined the warm up, still we weren't able to join the run because the fact that it's raining and we don't want to get wet that much, plus it's that early in the morning.

The 11th Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run kicked off at the parade grounds of Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City with different types of running pairs, parents and kids, siblings, lolos and their apos, loved ones, officemates, best friends, even neighbors-competing in the 5K and 10K races.
"We are happy to provide an opportunity for people to start their wellness journey in a fun and one-of-a-kind event with their partners. After all, getting fit and choosing the healthier lifestyle is more worthwhile when shared with a buddy," said Jody Gadia, Robinsons Supermarket General Manager.

Presented by Robinsons Supermarket, the 11th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run 5K race offered a top prize of a trip for 2 to Siargao with 3 days/2 nights hotel accommodation while 2nd and 3rd placers get Php8,000.00 worth of Robinsons gift certificates. For 10k race podium finishers, the top prize includes a trip for 2 to Hong Kong with 3 days/2 nights hotel accommodation while 2nd and 3rd placers get Php15,000.00 worth of Robinsons Gift Certificates. Unfortunately and because of the heavy rain, equipment used during the run were shut off to avoid any accidents. Meaning to equipment to capture the time, it is just all fun run under the rain.

After crossing the finish line with their buddies and celebrating fitness in a fun and exciting way, most of the participants also enjoyed exciting activity booths and took home big grocery loot bags that have been the trademark of the Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run through the years.

Yah, we enjoyed the booths specially the purefoods booth because of the hotdog and the other like tocino, the drinks and the oatmeal.

The loot bags contained lots of freebies from Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, Wyeth Nutrition, Abbott Nutrition, Fonterra and Unilab.

Still, Robinsons give out the loot bags even to those who did not run. This is a very generous event. Though the rain did not stop, but we end up with a smile going home because of the freebies that we got.

Hopefully by next year we will join again this run on their 12th year and we can also run. I love seeing my boys enjoying every moment with us.

This was shown in the bright faces of hundreds of running pairs who took part in the Robinsons Supermarket’s 10th Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run at the Parade Grounds of Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

Our family, who woke up very early just to attend this run, participated and enjoyed the day. It was a fun and exciting day to be fit and healthy. The kids loved the event very much specially the food part. It was one of our way of having a great bonding weekend. This is not our first time to join, we already joined the event celebration a few years ago. This year is quite different because this the first time that our kids went along with us.
In line with Robinsons Supermarket’s wellness campaign to continuously encourage more people to choose and live healthier lifestyles, the Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run gave everyone an opportunity to partner with friends and family, and run together towards the finish line.

Hosted by volleyball superstar and TV personality, Gretchen Ho, the event also featured exciting booths with lots of freebies from Nestle Philippines, Johnson & Johnson, Fonterra, Unilab and Wyeth Nutrition, Unilever, International Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (IPI), Procter & Gamble, Abbott Nutrition, Getz Bros, Ecossential, Del Monte, Foodsphere Inc., and Philusa.

Coaches Jim and Toni Saret prepped-up the runners with a short work-out and invited them to register on-site for the Fit Filipino 1 Million Pounds National Weight Loss Challenge, the biggest on-ground and online wellness program in the country which aims to encourage everyone to pledge and lose weight.
The Fun Run is just one of the programs this July. Robinsons Supermarket is also giving away Healthy You snack platters for a minimum purchase of Php 3,000 inclusive of Php 500 worth of participating items of the Wellness Festival.

Aside from the fun that our family experience, we also went home with a big smile on our faces as we were treated with some goodies from Robinsons. Like I mentioned my kids loved the activities.  This is their first outdoor activity since they started their school.

It was July 5, 2015 when I first joined Robinsons’ Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run together with my hubby. It was the 7th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run and in which I didn't actually completed the whole 5k run but finished it of course and passed the finish line.
