Less than a week after being introduced as GMA Artist Center's new consultant, Johnny Manahan, better known as the starmaker Mr M., has already begun one of his main tasks, that is to help the agency discover promising new talents.

As a talent agency, GMA Artist Center has discovered and honed several of the network's talents who have made names for themselves as actors, and endorsers, singers.

When the pandemic started in March 2020, GMA Artist Center immediately shifted to hold online auditions via its official website.

For the first time, Mr. M sat on the screening panel for this week's auditions. Always present during these auditions are GMA executives, GMA Entertainment directors, GMA Artist Center Senior Talent Managers, GMA Artist Center's Talent Development team, and GMA Artist Center's Talent Recruitment team.

Mr. M, a Philippine entertainment industry pillar, and GMA Artist Center, one of the top talent agencies in the Philippines, are excited to collaborate and discover the country's next superstars.

Get to know the beauties behind the XOXO group and to fill up with few details they are all formerly contenders of GMA's singing contest show "The Clash." Now, they are GMA Artist Center's talents launched as a group last year, they are Riel Lomadilla, Dani Ozaraga, Lyra Micolob and Mel Calauag.

 

The name 'XOXO' symbolizes female empowerment and body positivity. They expresses all that through their strong image. Each  member represents different parts of the Philippines, Mel hails from Bulacan, Dani is a proud Cebuana, Riel comes form Cagayan De Oro, and Lyra from Davao.

 In their newest single composed by Kiko Salazar, fortunatley, they were able to record the song before the enhanced community quarantine was implemented. However, Lyra admitted that it was challenging to prepare for their single's dance choreography by themselves in their own homes. But with everyone's persistence, they were able to pull it off with the help of their choreographer, RM Cortez. 

The girls recently celebrated their group's first year anniversary since their debut. Mel expressed her gratitude to the people who trust and support 'XOXO' since day one. She noted that they have come a long way together and their experiences have strengthened their bond.

Despite the pandemic crisis that we are experiencing now, there's always a positive side or a brighter day that comes in our life. Just like what happened to Kapuso Singer Anthony Rosaldo, who just recently released his latest single "Pwedeng Tayo" and received an award from Guillermo Mendoza as Most Promising Male Recording Artist.


GMA Artist Center Talent and The Clash Alumnus, Anthony Rosaldo's latest single "Pwedeng Tayo" under GMA Music, was written by written by Vehnee Saturno, Davey Langit, Jonathan Manalo and Edwin Marollano. Anthony shared that he recorded the song in his own home during the quarantine, now he is planning to shoot the MTVsoon. “Pwedeng Tayo,” is a song about what most of the people have gone through  in their life and that can heartbreaks that a lot of us can relate to. It simply mirrors the reality of love and life. 'Puedeng Tayo' is now available on Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube Musis and other digital stores worldwide.







Aside from the details about the latest single, Anthony also shared that during the quarantine period he did watched K-drama suchs as Crash Landing on You (I like this one also), King Eternal Monarch, and Itaewon Class. He is also does his regular fitness to keep healthy and guess what he also learned how to cook.

Currently, he is trying to learn dancing and more on acting, he did some intensive acting workshops. He did some roles in GMA like in Magpakailanman, and it seems that he has a potential in acting projects.


Recently, the GMA Artist Center talent was conferred as Most Promising Male Recording Artist of the Year for his debut single “Larawan Mo” under GMA Music at the 51st Box Office Entertainment Awards. The recognition was given by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Inc.

When it comes to comedy, one comedienne comes into mind that brings fun and hilarious antics, the  Comedy Concert Queen, Aiai delas Alas. Just recently, she inks a contract under GMA Artist Center with the same entertaining spirit Comedy Concert Queen Aiai delas Alas continues to display to her loyal fans and supporters.

As expected from the comedy queen, she'll be doing a lot of fun things for the network with her multi-talent, from TV hosting to performing.


“Nag-decide ako to join GMA Artist Center kasi it’s time I pay back. Since 1990, taga-GMA na ako talaga, sila ang nagbigay sa akin ng chance na makilala noong struggling artist pa ako, noong ako ay bago pa sa industriya. Dahil ngayon 30th anniversary ko and sumabay din ako sa 70th anniversary ng GMA, para terno!”



Present in the contract signing ceremony held at the 17th floor executive lounge of GMA were Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, GMA Artist Center Assistant Vice President for Talent Imaging and Marketing Simoun Ferrer, and Senior Talent Manager Daryl Zamora.

According to Aiai, she still has a lot to bring to the table.

Aiai invites her fans to watch out for her upcoming projects, “Napaka-daming ganap. Mayroon akong soap, ‘The Clash Season 3,’ at mayroon din akong out of the country shows na hindi natuloy pero matutuloy na after COVID-19.”


Moreover, she hopes that this new partnership will open more doors for her. A few of her fellow Kapuso artists she looks forward to work with in the future are Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards, Rocco Nacino, EA Guzman, Sanya Lopez, among others.

Acting workshop is not just for those who wants to be in the limelight of showbiz career. Most of the artist that we idolize now wants to undergo training or workshop to enhance their capabilities and to challenge their selves in a most rigorous role that they want to experience.

In line with this, talents of GMA Artist Center will undergo a thorough Acting Workshop under Coach Anthony Vincent Bova, a prominent New York-based acting coach that came here in Manila to train GMA Artist Center stars. Bova is the artistic director of Bova Actors Workshop and the Ionica Theater in New York.

Also an actor, writer and artistic director, Bova is a protege of famed coach Eric Morris, who has taught some of the best actors in the Philippines, including Laurice Guillen, Johnny Delgado, Leo Martinez, Michael De Mesa and Joel Torre among others.

Coach Bova complimented the stars of GMA Artist Center "They're beautiful kids. A lot of the actors here, in general, are very grounded, very connected. They're not detached from themselves and that's  nice thing."
After his visit last February, the New York City professional acting teacher and his co-teacher, actress, Anna Feleo, will be conducting the "Empowerment" training, which focuses on the "emotional & psychological alignment for peak performance" of the artists.



Some of the stars who have undergone workshop with Coach Bova shared that they learned a lot, they were able to know what they are capable of, and of course they were able to learn to become a better actor. It was a memorable experience for the artists and they will really treasure it.

Bova will come back on January 2019 to conduct the culminating activity, which will showcase what the artists have learned throughout the year from his training program.

One of today's blooming young teen actresses and GMA Artist Center's award-winning teen actress Therese 'Teri' Malvar is marking her name in the entertainment industry. One of her starring movie in the horror flick entitled "Ilawod" gave her very first achievement. In the movie, Teri plays the character of Isla who is a malevolent water spirit that haunts innocent victims and lures them into danger.
Yours truly was able to have a chit chat with this gorgeous and bubbly teen actress in an event at Sip & Gogh. It was great and one of the first thing that I'll be squealing is that this little lady loves to paint. Since the place is about painting I was also forced to do painting even though I'm really bad at it. But it was a good experience.







Another thing that I'll be sharing is that this young Kapuso actress started her career in the indie scene which earned her local and international recognition. It was a big break in small movie that gave her the opportunity. Here are some interesting things and facts that you might want to know about Teri. Sshhh don't tell her that I squealed some here on this blog.

1. Teri won the Best Actress Trophy in the first CineFilipino Festival Awards for her role in "Ang Huling Cha Cha Ni Anita." Among the other nominees were Nora Aunor and Eula Valdes. Now that's some tough competition!
2. When Teri was cast for the lead role in "Ang Huling Cha Cha ni Anita," she had no acting background other than joining declamation contests in her school. She wasn't even supposed to audition for this film. 
3. At the age of 13, she is the youngest nominee of the Gawad Urian Awards for Best Actress. 
4. Last year, she took home the Best Actress Award at the 15th New York Asian Film Festival and 38th Moscow International Film Festival for her role in the indie film "Hamog." Along with actor John Lloyd Cruz, Teri is the first Southeast Asian actress to have won an award in the Moscow International Film Festival. 
5. Despite her many projects, Teri does not neglect her studies. She is currently a grade 9 student at the Sun Valley National High School in Parañaque.
6. In her free time, Teri unleashes her inner artist as she enjoys painting and doing calligraphy. 
7. Teri is also a certified book nerd! Harry Potter series and Tuesdays with Morrie are among her favorites. 
8. Not known by many, the 16-yeard old actress has a hidden talent for singing. 
9. Before she developed the passion for acting, Teri's dream was actually to become a nun.
10. Aside from Ilawod, Teri is also part of the indie film "Sakaling Hindi Makarating".

GMA Artist Center’s Alden Richards celebrated his 24th birthday with a charity event for the Aeta community in Sitio Gayaman, Bamban, Tarlac last February 8, 2016. Even if the outreach was held more than a month after his real birthday, which falls on January 2, Alden was okay with celebrating it a bit late because it was for a good cause.
The outreach program began very early in the morning with a program hosted by comedienne Tess Bomb. Everyone in the Aeta community was very excited to meet Alden and began screaming, cheering and clapping for him as soon as he arrived. Pastor Rico from Gayaman Hope Sungnae Presbyterian church located within the community gave the opening remarks.

When some members of the Aeta community gave a surprise dance number, Alden wanted to make them feel that their effort to put on a dance number for him was much appreciated so he jumped right in and began dancing with them

Alden is no stranger to charity events. He has already participated in house-buildings, read-along sessions, and visits to orphanages

A lucky girl was chosen to participate in an impromptu acting game with Alden, much to the delight of the audience. She was so starstruck she couldn’t even speak!

One highlight of the program was a surprise dance number given by the Aetas. Alden was so touched and happy by the gesture he jumped right in and began dancing with them. The GMA Artist Center talent and Kapuso heartthrob also gamely posed for photos with members of the Aeta community.
 The fun morning ended with a lot of donations and giveaways which Alden personally distributed to children and adults composed of 350 families within the Aeta community. Apart from personally distributing the goods, Alden also donated money from his own pocket to help the Aeta community.

The Gayaman Hope Sungnae Presbyterian church served as a warehouse for the many donations. Apart from people from GMA Artist Center, others helped out with the distribution of goods, such as members of the Land Rover Club of the Philippines and members of Alden’s fan club, the Aldenatics

Alden personally distributed his gifts to the members of the Aeta community. Helping him out were his cousin April Penaranda, GMA Artist Center PR and Events Assistant Manager Rochelle Tuazon, and Senior Assistant Vice-President of Alternative Productions and Assigned Talent Management Head Gigi Santiago-Lara

Some of the items that were given out were rice, salt, sugar, coffee, soy sauce, vinegar, toiletries, shoes, bags, biscuits and kids’ apparel. According to Alden, he personally chose to help this particular group because not a lot of people know about the plight of the Aetas within the isolated community and he hopes that the outreach program will open people’s eyes to the situation there. Located on the mountain peaks of Tarlac, most of the houses don’t even have electricity or enough food to sustain their daily needs.

Land Rover Club of the Philippines headed by Marc Soong generously provided all the Land Rovers that were used to transport the goods and all the people involved in the event. Since the road going there was on very rough terrain, it would have been impossible to reach the area without the presence of their vehicles

Alden enjoyed meeting the Aetas that he just had to shake their hands before leaving the area. A car and driving enthusiast, Alden personally drove the Land Rover Discovery Sport to get to the venue. According to Alden, driving helps him relax

Yours Truly got the opportunity to interview Mike Tan anything about him. He is so a straightforward guy and always ready to answer all our questions.
Mike Tan was the Starstruck Ultimate Male Survivor Batch 2. He’s been part of some teleserye at GMA Network like Kambal Sirena, Dading, Pari Ko’y and The Rich Man’s Daughter.
Mike also shared that he recently joined Aquathlon. The sport of Aquathlon consists of a continuous, two-stage race involving swimming followed by running. He said that he is so excited because this is his first time to join in a competition.
Mike Tan said that he has a non-showbiz girlfriend for almost 9 years. He shared also that his girlfriend is very supportive and best critics when it comes to acting. According to him that “trust” is the key for long lasting relationship.
Mike’s dream role is to portray as a psycho, it will be a challenging role for him. He wants to give something new to all his supporters as an actor so that it will show how versatile Mike is.
As a mommy, I want to know his daily regimen to stay fit and his grooming routine since I do have 2 sons. Take a glimpse of my interview in this video.
