Perhaps one of the movie genre that I rarely see in theaters. One because I'm not used to seeing this kind of movie and second there are few movies that interest me.  VIVA Films and ALIUD Entertainment proudly present “ALL SOULS NIGHT”, an ImaginePerSecond production starring Andi Eigenmann, showing in cinemas on October 31.





From the imagination of Yam Laranas, the movie follows the story of Shirley, an all-around house helper who answered an ad for a quick three-day job to take care of a sick man. Ellen, the inhospitable wife, readily tells her the three important house rules: First, keep the doors and windows shut; Second, stay locked inside the house; and third, don’t get inside their room without permission.



Shirley shares a room with the couple’s young daughter, and observes that the child is a terrified mess. She tells Ellen about it, only to be forbidden to interfere in whatever she sees going on around the house. After the child tells Shirley that the man is not her father, nerve-racking incidents one after another are revealed to her. And she will not be spared from it.

This film perfect for Halloween is co-directed by Aloy Adlawan and Jules Katanyag. Both had written the screenplays of some of the biggest horror movies in Philippine cinema.

 Adlawan is known for his work in “Ouija” which was awarded PinakaPasadong Dulang Pampelikula at the 10th Pasado Gawad Sining Sine by the Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro, and the highly-acclaimed “Signus” which won numerous awards, such as Best Foreign Film at the 2007 Lone Star International Film Festival in Texas and won Best International Thriller at the 2008 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. He also wrote “Sundo”, “T2”, “Tumbok”, “Third Eye”, and segments in “Shake, Rattle and Roll” movies.
Katanyag’s body of work as a writer includes “Shake, Rattle and Roll” (12 and 13), “Bampirella” (TV series, 2011), “Darna” (TV series, 2009), and “Victor Magtanggol” (TV series, 2018). As a director, he won the Special Jury Prize in Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival for the movie “Si Magdalola at ang mga Gago” (2016).

Yam Laranas, who gave us the movie “The Echo” (also known as “Sigaw” which won for him a Special Award at the Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film), serves as the Creative Head.







With the remarkable background of the filmmakers, it’s no wonder why Andi Eigenmann accepted the role.

 

The actress is no longer a city girl and now prefers to live near the ocean, as evident in her Instagram posts. Andi won Best Actress in the 2016 FAMAS Awards for the movie “Angela Markado”.

I seldom watch Horror films. It's either I'm curious or I was just drag to watch movie by my friends. I'm not really a fan of horror films and I'm always scared when there's a film like this. But on this particular movie, "Satans Salves" I was encouraged to watch it together with my friends.

When I heard the title "Satan's Slaves" I was really scared and not sure if I'll watch it or not because the title says it already. Indeed, it was literally scary even at the beginning of the movie. Watch it and you'll understand why? I was hooked or rather got curious about the movie because you'll be wondering what's the reason behind and what's going to happen. Most of the time when the scary part comes I would put my shoal to cover my face. The sound effect gives terrible feelings, then you'll realize that some of the scene is just a sounds there's no need to be scared of. Though, there are scenes that are still frightening. Great that I'm with my BFF when I watched this movie, I'm just calling her name when scary scenes are approaching to lessen the nervousness. Very Ironic, the way I call my Friend's name, is just the way the mother calling his son "Tony". There was an instance that I shouted because I was frightened.

Congrats to all the people who created this movie and yes, it is truly a scary movie I watched in my life so far. I realized that satan will do the best just to get someone, never thought that beautiful face and innocent smile can sometimes full and deceived you. 

It has been thirty five (35) years since the original cult-classic, Satan’s Slave was released in 1982.Director Joko Anwar was mesmerized and completely terrified by it upon sneaking up in a theatre to watch it when he was a kid. He has been lobbying Rapi Films to give him the directing duties if ever they decide to remake it. Fortunately for him, they did.

The original version, released in 1980, still haunts the nightmares of many Indonesians today. The film, a low-budget spectacle directed by Sisworo Gautama Putra, is still one of the best of the bloody, gruesome, and insane Indonesian exploitation movies made by production houses like Rapi Films.

The film has been called “the scariest Indonesian horror film of all time,” “scary as sh*t” and “another gem of horror” from various websites. Truly, Satan’s Slaves will be marked as one of the most unforgettable horror movie experience once seen.

Pengabdi Setan was a mashup of exorcism, zombie, and morality horror. In the film, a mother returns to her home to pick up her children after her death from a strange illness that she suffered for three years.
The film stars Tara Basro, Bront Palarae, Endy Arfian and Indonesian Film Festival 2017 Best Child Actor Muhammad Adhiyat.

Definitely it is one memorable experience if you watch it with your loved ones or with your friends and BFF. To let you have a very unique moment  to bond with  them. You'll talk about it most often because it will mark the day you watch "Satan's Slave".

Joko Anwar, the multi-awarded director from Indonesia is back with another critically acclaimed horrifying film “Pegabdi Setan,” “Satan’s Slaves” in English.
The film tells the story of a family of four who must take evil head-on after their mother dies. Featuring plenty of scares and a shocking plot twist, the film is set in 1981, one year before the classic horror movie was set.

This is the most successful horror film in Indonesia of all time. It managed to attract almost 3.9 million viewers in a month. As of now, it is the 2nd highest grossing picture of the year in Indonesia with more than 4,000,000 audience.

Shot only in 18 days in mostly chronological order. The longest part of the production was finding the right house with the perfect atmosphere and tone. Approximately 3 months were spent on finding it.

The film reunites director Joko Anwar with two of his muses which are Tara Basro, whom he had worked with in A Copy of Mind (2015), and Asmara Abigail, whom he had worked with in his short film Jenny.

Horror film fans are in for a treat as one of ABS-CBN’s premier artists, Kim Chiu, stars in Star Cinema’s spine-chilling horror-mystery movie of the season “The Ghost Bride”.
Reuniting with the master filmmaker Chito S. Roño, this is the third time Chiu is going under the helm of Roño after “The Healing” in 2012 and “Etiquette for the Mistresses” in 2015.

“The Ghost Bride”, explores a very different kind of wedding practice of ghost weddings, that is rooted in ancient Chinese culture and tradition.
“Arranged marriage is common sa mga kapatid nating Chinese, but there is darker side of the tradition”, explained Roño. “There are women who are arranged to be married with dead people, which is being discouraged not only by the government but also by the women themselves”.

The movie is centered on the life of Mayen (Chiu) – a girl who will gamble her life to a secret Chinese tradition, upon the advice of the mysterious matchmaker Madame Angie Lao (Alice Dixson), to help her family.

Mayen will enter a bizarre and unfamiliar world where she will have to marry the dead for others to live.

“The Ghost Bride” exposes a myriad of strange practices, both ancient and modern, that continues to affect certain groups of the Filipino-Chinese community, specifically in Manila’s fabled Chinatown district of Binondo.

The film may fall under the horror genre, but Chiu believes it goes beyond that. “Hindi naman siya as in super takutan lang, kasi nando’n ‘yong truth, e, nando’n ‘yong tradition, ‘yong curse, ‘yong kapalit ng ginawa mo (It is not just about scaring people. It also shows truth, tradition, and reminds us that everything we do have consequences.),” she explains.





"The Ghost Bride" also stars Matteo Guidicelli, Christian Bables, Robert Sena, Ina Raymundo, Beverly Salviejo, Isay Alvarez, Nanding Josef, Mon Confiado, Kakai Bautista, Victor Silayan, and Jerome Ponce; and written by Charlson Ong and Cathy Camarillo.

As Mayen goes deeper into the underworld of ghost weddings, she will uncover shocking truths that will put her life in mortal danger. Will Mayen survive the horrors that she will unwittingly unleash in being the dreaded ghost bride?

 
Many of us experienced the so called "May mumu sa labas" or "May aswang sa labas". These were phrases what I remembered used to scare kids like me during those times. This is mostly done by the old ones to discouraged youngsters to go out at night. So the idea of a monster or creature will get the kids is made up just to scare them but still nobody know if its real or not, that's a big big question.
Growing up, we were told countless tales about this infamous miscreation in Philippine folklore known as aswang. Always depicted as a flesh eating and ruthless creature hunting for its prey, is that what they really are – mindless killing ghouls?

Directed by award-winning director Paul Basinilio, Tabi Po stars a powerhouse cast led by Luis Alandy as Tasyo, Phoebe Walker as Sabel, Jourdanne Castillo as Salome, and AJ Muhlach as Elias.






The media people were given opportunity to watch the pilot episode of the series during the media launch. I was in awe and got hooked on the Tabi Po TV series. I thought I was like watching a movie and the story is very interesting, the acting of AJ Muhlach is superb. Also the other artists. Yah, just like what they told us that it was "nakakabitin",  I will definitely watch it. It is kind of different on the usual aswang teleserye that we watch, the effect is so different and meticulously done to make it real. This TV series is worthy to watch.

If you've been wondering why I've mentioned always read and follow the labels, well, this is where everything falls from the start. It always harms when instructions and labels aren't followed and understand thoroughly. Just right before Holloween here's a spine tingling horror-thriller movie with a touch of comedy will perhaps let you enjoy err rather scares you when you watch this movie. It is the chilling and eerie setting that will definitely give you a jump off the seats with "Resureksyon".

"Resureksyon" is a horror-thriller movie that will definitely let you give a second look on places abroad that you'll be working. It is a story of a mom who leaves for abroad to look for greener pasture for her family and then something happens that one day, she was brought back to the country in a coffin and on it are markings with specific instruction.
Isabelle Daza's character is an OFW possessed by an evil spirit that later on become the leader of a pack of vampires. Jasmine Curtis-Smith is the sister who took care of the child played by Raikko Mateo. Paulo Avelino as the police officer, Sweet John Lapus as the Uncle and Nino Muhlach as the Mayor of the town. "Resureksyon" is directed by Alfonso "Borgy" Torre III and produced by Regal Entertainment and Reality Entertainment.

Aside from the powerful cast, state-of-the-art sound and special effects, moviegoers must also watch out for the confrontation scene between Belle, Jasmine and Paulo.

The gripping scene, which is oneof the film's highlights, took a few days to shoot but Direk Borgy notes it was worth the sweat.
