My Experience at 8th Robinsons' Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run

It was July 5, 2015 when I first joined Robinsons’ Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run together with my hubby. It was the 7th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run and in which I didn't actually completed the whole 5k run but finished it of course and passed the finish line.

This year, my hubby insisted that I should complete the 5K run because according to him it will be a great experience for me and I'll feel healthy. So this is it, I tried! At first, I enjoyed it but later on I felt tired already and the signage of 1k was still far. When we reached the first signage we took a photo, it was happy indeed.

I told my hubby that we should walk only, because if we run, it’ll be too tiring. My buddy (my hubby) was my boaster that day, when I am feeling tired and don’t want to continue, he would push me to move on. Until we reached the 2km, another photo op. Nearing the 3K signage, I told him that we should try to do a short cut because I’m really tired, my feet is aching, my muscles is crankng, but still he insisted, ‘til we reached the 3kms another photo op again.

Tired, sweating and feeling give up, but my buddy keep pushing me to do this. He was supposed to run but he kept his pace just to accompany me. It was a great feeling. We reached the 4kms no photo op because the poster/signage fell down because of heavy wind.

The finish line was getting nearer, I felt tired but with excitement because I will reached the finish line. And boom there we go, it was my first ever 5K fun run. Finally, I did it! I feel healthy, and yes, it was a great feeling and a great achievement for me.

Thank you so much to my buddy (my hubby) for the words of encouragement and thank you to Robinsons for letting me experience it and for the gift, the fruit of our hardship, the grocery that was given to all participants who joined the fun run.

Around 4,500 recreational runners took on the 5KM and 10KM run, including triathlete Nikko Huelgas, who recently bagged a gold medal for the sport at the 28th SEA Games. Philippine volcanoes captain Jake Letts, and celebrities James Reid and Jessy Mendiola were in attendance as well.

"While eating healthy is at the core of healthy life, we cannot discount the immutable contribution of exercise. And running is always better when done with a partner hence, the Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run," said Robinsons Supermarket Genral Manager Jody Gadia.

At the end of the run, top pair finishers received prizes from Robinsons Supermarket officials. 5K winners won a trip for 2 to coron, Palawan while 10K winners bagged a trip for 2 to Yangon, Myanmmar. 2nd to 5th place finishers received Robinsons Gift Certificates as consolation prizes.

Special awards from event sponsors were also given away. Outstanding pairs were awarded the following: Close-Up Couple Award, Rexona Do More Buddies, Breeze Sige Mom-child Tandem, Nestle Best Shape-Up Buddies, Milo Energy & Milo R2 Twin Buddies, and the Johnson & Johnson Active Fresh Award.
