Thankfully, Filipinos have an alternative to having steamed rice for their everyday meals—brown rice.
One of the healthiest types of rice, brown rice is a fiber-rich whole grain that has little calories and contains no trans-fat or cholesterol. It is a good source of magnesium, phosphorous, selenium, thiamine, niacin, manganese, and vitamin B6.
With its nutrient rich bran, brown rice is a better option to white rice as it is proven to prevent heart disease and lower bad cholesterol, protect children against asthma, help maintain a healthy bowel function, help control blood sugar levels, and reduce the risk of developing cancer, among other health benefits.
To help Filipinos eat healthy, Robinsons Supermarket was the first to partner with the Department of Agriculture and the Philippine Rice Research Institute to promote the use of brown rice in the country.
In December, it launched a promo that gave discounts for every kilo of participating brown rice products bought at selected Robinsons Supermarket and Robinsons Selections outlets.
