After a hiatus of 18 years, Wickermoss, the renowned Filipino alternative rock band, is poised to rekindle their musical journey by reuniting with AltG Records, a move that reflects their reconnection with their original artistic essence.

Founded by Reiman Gesmundo (guitars) and Roger Alcantara (bass), Wickermoss captured the hearts of their fans with their melancholic sound with an eclectic mix of various influences such as pop, folk, jazz, and progressive rock.

The band’s breakthrough album “Falling Leaves,” originally released under AltG Records, contains noteworthy tracks such as “Buwan,” “Falling Leaves,” and “Letters.” This deeply resonated with their audience because of the raw emotions that came with their music. 

In 2019, Wickermoss emerged from their hiatus, driven by a shared determination to delve into a treasure trove of unreleased songs. With this emergence, they also introduced their new members: Allen Lucas (vocals and acoustic guitar), Rigil Borromeo (guitars), and Karmi Santiago (drums).

Presenting their latest offering, “Babalik,” the band reaffirms their fondness for transforming their emotions into songs. The single, written by Gesmundo, navigates the complexities of pain, anger, and the intricate aftermath of heartbreak. It delivers a candid portrayal of the emotional journey that follows heartbreak. 

“I created the song during the lockdown when I joined a songwriting workshop online. That’s the song that came out, and we played around with it as a band until it was completed. I also thought of doing something different this time because most heartbreak songs are about letting go and hoping that the other person is happy. ‘Babalik’ is more about the feelings of anger and hurt and the genuine emotions a person feels following a heartbreak,” says Gesmundo.

The reunion of Wickermoss with AltG Records marks a wonderful homecoming for the band. “Returning to AltG Records feels like a homecoming. The label’s support not only fuels our creativity but also reminds us of our purpose as musicians. We simply want people to relate to our music. We listen to music to feel that someone understands, to see that there are also others who go through what we are experiencing. Music is a companion, and we want to be our listeners’ companion,” shares Alcantara.

BILIB Ppop group was just recently introduced together with their single "Kabanata" under the newest music label AQ Prime Music.

The era or the phenomenal rise of the PPop groups, as more and more groups are coming out to make the Pinoy music industry to stand out, not only locally but internationally.

Aspiring to make it to the top, like their idol SB19, is the newest PPop Group, BILIB. Last July 10, a media conference was held at Luxent Hotel to debut the group together with their single "Kabanata," which comes with a music video comparable with today's extravagant MVs. According to the big bosses behind AQ Prime Music, they only wanted the best for their artist.

The PPop group BILIB is composed of Yukito, RC, Carlo, Rafael, Clyde, Jmac, and Zio. And each of the members have their specialty and talent, Yukito is the leader of the group, or mainly the Kuya of the group, RC is the visual, Carlo is the lead vocal, Rafael is the main vocal, Clyde is the main dancer, Jmac lead dancer, and Zio the rapper of the group. 

During the media conference, the group shared their struggles and their ups and downs while being in the group and forming what is now BILIB. Their tag line ‘Becoming, Limitless, Beyond’ is something that embodies their journey together in the world of PPop. As they are introduced, BILIB believes that they are one family, the BILIB and AQ Prime Music, aiming for their goal.

“... we established really the AQ Prime Music to help the local artists, and this one BILIB… kinireate to actually because we wanted to have a Ppop group, a unique one that has an adovacy. You can see… makikita nyo yong lyrics ng kanilang songs is really motivating and talagang it could uplift your spirit, your confidence, and it is… that we want to bring to our audience, to our supporters na not to give up sa lahat ng mga challenges lalo yong mga nakakaexperience ng depression and this music will really change their mood in a positive way…. music will really influence people na to be good .. more on the positive side talaga,” explained by Atty. Honey Quino.

Barangay LS 97.1 disc jock, Papa Obet is now officially a recording artist and releases “Papa Obet Sessions,” it's an EP under GMA Music released last December 10, on-air and on digital streaming platforms worldwide.

Containing four tracks: "Ikaw Lang At Ako," (composed and originally performed by Janno Gibbs), "Kung Mababalik Ko Lang," by 604, "Kung Malaya Lang Ako," by Kris Lawrence and Papa Obet’s original composition "Ang Una Kong Pasko," this EP is a dream come true for him who shared during his interview that the ambition written in his high school yearbook was “to be a successful recording artist.”

“The EP was inspired by the Spotlight Music Sessions, an online music channel which showcases the talent of Pinoy artists through live performances,” he says.

“Ang Una Kong Pasko” is dedicated to the OFWs who are spending their Christmas away from their loved ones. “It was inspired by my experience when I had to spend Christmas on my own for the first time. And I dedicate this to the OFWs who are miles away from their families and are celebrating Christmas far from home for the first time,” shares Papa Obet.

Before becoming a Barangay LS disc jock, Papa Obet used to join various singing contests including GMA’s talent competition Protégé. He is also the songwriter behind Barangay LS’ theme song "Tayo Ay Forever" sang by Kapuso artists Ken Chan and Rita Daniela.

“I still can’t believe that my singing career could actually get this far. I’ve always wanted to be a radio DJ, but I’ve been singing since I was a child. I would join singing contests in Bataan and sometimes win. Then, I became a DJ here at Barangay LS and I’ve been here for 10 years. And now, GMA Music has given me an opportunity to be an official and legit recording artist and it has been really fun working with them,” says Papa Obet.

During the media conference, Papa Obet shared that during the pandemic his show gained more listeners, maybe because everyone was emotional at that time. Also, he shared that on his online show the management encourages him instead of playing a song, he actually sings the song for the listeners.

One of the common phrase in Filipino that I know matches this concert of the Kilabotitos, "kung uukol, bubukol," which basically means "if its meant to be it will happen!" Just as the Kilabotitos concert, last year we attended a press con for the Kilabotitos Concert of Ogie Alcasid and Ian Veneracion, unfortunately, after the presscon, ECQ or Enhanced Community Quarantine happened.

Get to know the beauties behind the XOXO group and to fill up with few details they are all formerly contenders of GMA's singing contest show "The Clash." Now, they are GMA Artist Center's talents launched as a group last year, they are Riel Lomadilla, Dani Ozaraga, Lyra Micolob and Mel Calauag.

 

The name 'XOXO' symbolizes female empowerment and body positivity. They expresses all that through their strong image. Each  member represents different parts of the Philippines, Mel hails from Bulacan, Dani is a proud Cebuana, Riel comes form Cagayan De Oro, and Lyra from Davao.

 In their newest single composed by Kiko Salazar, fortunatley, they were able to record the song before the enhanced community quarantine was implemented. However, Lyra admitted that it was challenging to prepare for their single's dance choreography by themselves in their own homes. But with everyone's persistence, they were able to pull it off with the help of their choreographer, RM Cortez. 

The girls recently celebrated their group's first year anniversary since their debut. Mel expressed her gratitude to the people who trust and support 'XOXO' since day one. She noted that they have come a long way together and their experiences have strengthened their bond.

We have been posting stories about TikTok lately, and who's not my youngest son is a TikToker, so it is just interesting that I always share something we are interested with. And another thing this one is about BTS.

The newest OPM hip-hop muse LIRAH is set to release a surprise track with hip-hop power players Ex Battalion for a collab to end all collabs. “Mahal Mo Rin Ba Ako?”, to be released on February 7, 2020, features Bosx1ne and Flow G. The track is LIRAH’s follow up to the hit “Sahod” and is released under Ivory Music & Video.

Away from her family, Mika Gorospe spent a day at SOS Children's Village and celebrated her Birthday Concert with some of The Clash Alumni namely XOXO, Jhong Madaliday, Kyryll, Anthony Rosaldo, Dave Bornea, Nikki Co, and Golden Canedo. It is a special day for Mika Gorospe as she celebrates not only birthday but her 18th Birthday. Her way of making the love shines to others.




The event was filled with song and dance numbers from Mika and the other Clashers. The event was held last December 10 where Mika gave a helping hand with some of the family inside the village. It was followed by a mini concert, a fun musical night.



Happy greetings and wishes were given to Mika as she blow the candles on her cake. Guests male Clashers serenade her with a rose, even the fans and kids in the village gave roses as well. A different version of 18 roses.

From the Clash Season 1, Mika Gorospe is the bubbly sweet teen who has belted her way. She may have lost in that season but she won the heart of many fans, which were present during the mini concert as their way of supporting Mika.
SOS Children's Village is an NGO that helps orphans, abandoned and neglected children. The concept that intrigues me about their organization is being a family for the children. They have their Tatay, their Mama, their Aunties and siblings. It's a big family where love is given to these children. Mika became a volunteer for that particular day and spent her day helping out with the children.

Happy Birthday to Mika Gorospe and continue to be an inspiration to everyone who dreams.

One of the interesting comedians in GMA, Betong Sumaya, who have made our lonely moments forgettable with his crazy antics and laughable lines. Originally, Betong was an executive producer for various GMA News TV shows. He first came out in front of the camera in 2011 when he joined and won Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown.

From then on, Betong has become a popular host and actor and is considered one of the country's best comedians.

Betong is currently part of the country's longest-running gag show Bubble Gang and he also stars as Asi in the primetime drama series The Gift.

Aside from hosting and acting, Betong is also a talented stage performer. He started singing when he was just 4 years old and then he joined competitions. While still in school, he also joined various school programs and theater groups.

When he asked about how he feels about his first- ever concert, Betong said, "I feel excited and nervous at the same time. It's always been my dream to hold a concert. It took me two years to think and prepare for th is one."

What can we expect from this concert? Betong said, "I'll be showing off an all-new Betong who is not just a comedian but also a performer. But as the title of my concert suggests - Try Ko Lang Ha?

A new generation of powerhouse divas just recently launched and introduced by GMA Network to the media and bloggers.  It's an all -female group composed of Riel, Dani, Lyra, and Mel which is collectively known as XOXO.

All of them are alumni of the original singing competition "The Clash", these promising artists combined their talent and edgy personalities, together with such irresistible harmony that will entice its listeners and music lovers.  These four talented young ladies possesses different personalities that will really make the group a talent to expect in the  music industry.



Riel, is one of the XOXOs that possesses a superb vocals and strong personality which gave her the title "The Diva."

Dani is the fierce and sexy member that has a sultry looks and grooves that complements the group's overall stance.
