"Hellcome Home" the newest offering of ABS-CBN films-Star Cinema This Halloween, topbills Dennis Trillio, Raymond Bagatsing, Alyssa Muhlach, and Beauty Gonzales.
Helmed by young director Bobby Bonifacio Jr. (of last year's Cinema One Originals' top grosser, "Hospicio",) the film tells the story of two families: The Domingos-husband and wife Nandy (Raymond) and Cynthia (Beauty) with kids Fred, Mia and Pia, portrayed by Teejay Marquez, Gillian Vicencio, and Miel Espinosa, restectively - and the Villareals- husband and wife Peter (Dennis) and Marcy (Alyssa) with kids Sky (Nhikzy Calma) and Baby Starr.



The Domingos and the Villareals both want the same thing: to have a peaceful home away from all the outside noise. However, it seems they cannot escape their inner chaos.

Upon settling in, their dream home becomes a nightmare from hell as things happen--sounds and whispers too uncanny to ignore, strange shadows lurking at every corner, and trespassers bearing offerings. Both families experience horrifying phenomena that are eeriely parallel.

Perhaps the house is evil itself, hungry for souls and wants to feed, once every few years. Who can save them from the house? Or is there no escape when hell has come home?

"(Basically), it's a story of two families na tumira sa iisang bahay. Pagdating nila roon they are being haunted, ginugulo sila ng kung anu-amung klaseng evil spirits," says Bonifacio Jr.
"Helcome Home" marks the first time the cast worked together, except for Beauty and Raymond, who teamed up in ABS-CBN's afternoon series "Pusong Ligaw" back in 2017.

This film also marks Dennis comeback to Star Cinema after doing the romance movie "You're Still The One' with Maja Salvador and Richard Yap in 2015.

Alyssa and Gillian both come from blockbuster horror films this year, 'Clarita' and 'Eerie,' respectively.

Star Cinema opens 2018 with a bang as it puts together two of the most celebrated actresses in the Philippine entertainment industry today - Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban - in the heartwarming and laugh-out-loud dramedy “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes”, which will be screened in key countries worldwide via TFC@theMovies from January to February.
“Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” marks the comeback of Santos and Panganiban on the big screen. This is Santos’s grand comeback to mainstream cinema after her last full-length movie Kusina, an official entry to the 12th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival in 2016.

“I was praying for a good project that will challenge me and surprise the viewers. I believe this project fulfilled that for me”, Santos says.

On the other hand, Panganiban also returns to the big screen fresh from her recent Best Actress victory in FAMAS 2017 for her superb performance in The Unmarried Wife.

Because of their achievements and projects, the two actresses are rightfully considered as showbiz royalties whose individual feats catapulted them to the highest echelons of the industry as queens who are both very competent in the genres of drama and comedy.

“Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” is a film directed by Jun Robles Lana with an original story he developed and a screenplay he co-wrote with Elmer Gatchalian. Describing the film, Lana says, “The movie tackles a lot of dimensions for women including their struggles”.
The film is about the journey of two women – Lianne (Santos) and Cindy (Panganiban) – who pursue their erring husbands who both have the same surnames. Their seemingly happy marriages are put to the test when both wives discover that their husbands have an affair, leaving Lianne and Cindy in a series of misadventures in the hopes of foiling their husbands’ relationship.
More than being a movie about infidelity, Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes is ultimately a story about two women who will discover the great lengths that they are willing to go through for love.

Santos and Panganiban play two very strong female characters who are polar opposites, one being a successful career woman while the other is a homemaker. The only similarity between Lianne and Cindy is their driving desire to win back the love of their respective husbands.
Lianne and Cindy will take moviegoers of all ages to an emotional roller coaster ride as both women turn to humor and laughter amidst life’s most painful experiences.

Providing a peek into the minds of their characters, Panganiban shares what urged their characters to go after and get back to their husbands: “When we get hurt, a lot of things enter our mind, and we cannot deny that one of these is getting back to the people who hurt us”, Panganiban explains.

Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes also stars Joross Gamboa and JC De Vera, produced by Star Cinema together with Quantum Films and The Idea First Company.

Star Cinema releases “A Better Tomorrow,” a film adaptation of the original John Woo 1986-hit movie of the same title, this January.

The comeback of China's biggest and number 1 action franchise to the big screen is now helmed by, the acclaimed director of Little Big Soldier, Police Story 2013, Railroad Tigers and Saving Mr. Wu – Ding Sheng. The movie features the portrayal of the country's superstars such as Ma Tian Yu, Wang Kai, and Darren Wang.

Ma Tian Yu, also known as Ray Ma, is a Chinese Mandopop artist and actor who rose to fame following the airing of the epic fantasy drama, "Ice Fantasy," in 2016. Wang Kai, on the other hand, was known for his roles in television like in "When a Snail Falls in Love," "Stay With Me," and "The Devotion of Suspect X." Darren Wang, a Taiwanese actor, had his breakthrough after playing Hsu Tai-Yu in the film "Our Times."

The film, was co-produced by Jackie Chan through Sparkle Roll Media along with Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism. In addition, Chan’s team did the martial arts choreography and stunts for the movie.

“A Better Tomorrow" revolves around a former drug smuggler who attempts to start his life anew and repair his relationship with his estranged brother, an up-and-coming star in the police department's narcotics division.

Its recent premiere in the USA receives positive reception from the viewers saying that, “from some of the boldest music choices to drastic switches in tone of cinematography to one of the best shootout scenes in forever, A Better Tomorrow 2018 felt like a firework bursting with life.” India, Taiwan, Korea and Vietnam also acquired the film for theatrical release

Get ready for another fun-filled adventure-comedy film, “The Revenger Squad”, from the Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda with Daniel Padilla, and introducing 2015 Miss Universe Ms. Pia Wurtzbach in her comeback film role after her win. The Revengers Squad marks the coming together of Vice Ganda, Padilla, Wurtzbach, and director Bb. Joyce Bernal – a certified dream team composed of talented members who are individually considered as four of the country’s biggest entertainment icons.

The story of “The Revenger Squad” revolves around makeup and rags reseller Emy (Vice Ganda) who, despite his faulty memory, never forgets to guard his younger brother Chino (Daniel Padilla) from harm – to the point of becoming overprotective of his younger brother. The fun begins when Chino turns 21 and Emy remembers the truth about them – that he is the superhero Gandarra and that Chino’s super abilities will soon activate now that he is an adult. Wanting to shelter Chino from the dangers of being a superhero, Emy keeps the truth from his brother and becomes even more protective.
This, until a new superhero emerges, Rapiddo, who Emy discovers is his younger brother Chino. He then decides to become Gandarra again to secretly help and protect his brother. Together with Emy’s super best buddies, Gandarra and Rapiddo become a squad of superheroes who treat each other as family.

The conflict begins when the eccentric superhero Kweenie (Pia Wurtzbach) enters their lives and drops the truth that could break their family.

Jason is like his uncle, a hard-working guy who values his family. He looks up to Cocoy because he grew up without a father. Like his uncle, he too is a charmer but is not really a winner in the love department. In fact, he pines for Yanni, Patty’s daughter but to no avail, following her on social media and leaving comments which Patty shields for reason.

Yanni, played by Barretto is a young woman defiant of her mother’s overbearing stance and huge expectations and the way her parents’ marriage turned out. Instead of acting according to the mold, she breaks free and gets involved in various side jobs. She also develops a twisted view of love and takes to social media where she is very active and gets the attention of Jason.

Unexpectedly Yours, the third movie by director Garcia-Molina this year, also marks another milestone in Molina’s stellar body of work, as this is the very first time that she is working with the Philippines’ iconic love team and the fastest-rising tandem.

Horror film fans are in for a treat as one of ABS-CBN’s premier artists, Kim Chiu, stars in Star Cinema’s spine-chilling horror-mystery movie of the season “The Ghost Bride”.
Reuniting with the master filmmaker Chito S. Roño, this is the third time Chiu is going under the helm of Roño after “The Healing” in 2012 and “Etiquette for the Mistresses” in 2015.

“The Ghost Bride”, explores a very different kind of wedding practice of ghost weddings, that is rooted in ancient Chinese culture and tradition.
“Arranged marriage is common sa mga kapatid nating Chinese, but there is darker side of the tradition”, explained Roño. “There are women who are arranged to be married with dead people, which is being discouraged not only by the government but also by the women themselves”.

The movie is centered on the life of Mayen (Chiu) – a girl who will gamble her life to a secret Chinese tradition, upon the advice of the mysterious matchmaker Madame Angie Lao (Alice Dixson), to help her family.

Mayen will enter a bizarre and unfamiliar world where she will have to marry the dead for others to live.

“The Ghost Bride” exposes a myriad of strange practices, both ancient and modern, that continues to affect certain groups of the Filipino-Chinese community, specifically in Manila’s fabled Chinatown district of Binondo.

The film may fall under the horror genre, but Chiu believes it goes beyond that. “Hindi naman siya as in super takutan lang, kasi nando’n ‘yong truth, e, nando’n ‘yong tradition, ‘yong curse, ‘yong kapalit ng ginawa mo (It is not just about scaring people. It also shows truth, tradition, and reminds us that everything we do have consequences.),” she explains.

Two of the Philippines’ largest and leading multi-media conglomerate, ABS-CBN’s brightest stars Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga reunite in Star Cinema’s latest movie offering, “Last Night”.


The film, directed by hitmaker Joyce Bernal, is the reunion project of Pascual and Gonzaga after their box-office film “Starting Over Again” in 2014. This also serves as the big screen comeback of Gonzaga after her last film “You’re My Boss” in 2015.
In the film, Gonzaga will give life to Carmina, a bright-eyed, idealistic young woman who has given up on life. “Sometimes you feel na you always have it together but in reality, you are really broken in the inside”, she shares.

Pascual plays Mark, a businessman who has lost the will to live. Pascual identifies with the humanness of Mark. He understands how Mark was at the end of his rope and opted for his last resort to end all his worries.
“Naintindihan ko iyong pagiging human niya. Naintindihan ko iyong reason niya, kaya naintindihan ko iyong pagiging tao niya. As my character, I was reaching my boiling point kaya I wanted to end it. I was coming from these troubles na kinasuotan ko, and being left alone --- parang that was my last resort (I understand him and his reasons, human as he is. To channel my character --- I was reaching my boiling point which is why I wanted to end my life. I knew the troubles I got involved with, and being left alone --- that was my last resort)”, he expounds.

Their paths cross during the lowest points of their lives. Believing they are on to the last night of their lives, they make a pact that starts as a friendship and eventually blossoms into love.

As Pascual and Gonzaga mark the comeback of their team up with very different roles, producer Star Cinema, together with N2 and Spring Films take the bold move of exploring a new movie genre –-- night romance --– a tale of a dark but hopeful love story.

The unconventional screenplay is written by actress Bela Padilla. This is the fourth screenplay she has written, and the first to be produced by Star Cinema. “This is really one for the books for me,” Padilla gushes. “Ang laking honor na iyong script na sinulat mo from scratch, ang nag-produce pa Star Cinema, N2, at Spring Films; and director ko pa, Direk Joyce Bernal; ang artista ko pa, Toni and Piolo. The film may be ‘dark’, but Gonzaga says it also sends a message of hope and love. “Mare-realize mo na ang sarap magmahal, ang sarap mabuhay, at ang sarap ma-experience ng buhay (It will make you realize how good it feels to love, to live, and to live life to its fullest.)”, she beams.

Padilla echoes Gonzaga’s sentiments and adds: “You want to give people hope. When there is darkness, there’s light. There will always be love”.

The long wait is finally over for movie aficionados as ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. (Star Cinema) opens the 3rd quarter of 2017 with “Finally Found Someone” --- the biggest and most highly anticipated Filipino romantic-comedy (rom com) of the season starring two of the Philippines’ box- office superstars, John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo

Directed by one of the Philippine film industry’s fast-rising directors Theodore Boborol and with a story written and developed by Carmi Raymundo and Gilliann Ebreo, “Finally Found Someone” marks the much-awaited silver screen reunion of the mega blockbuster tandem of Cruz and Geronimo. The power tandem’s last team up was the smash hit “It Takes A Man And A Woman” way back in 2013, part of the trilogy that started it all --- “A Very Special Love” and which was followed by “You Changed My Life”, both also written by Raymundo.
Today, four years after the historic and phenomenal third and final installment of the love story of Miggy Montenegro and Laida Magtalas, Cruz and Geronimo are set to breathe life into the characters of Raffy and April – two totally different characters in a brand new story that retains Star Cinema’s great tradition of narrating unforgettable romantic comedies, the excitement of which is consistently felt by moviegoers of all ages across the world.

“Finally Found Someone” is centered on the unexpected romance between Raffy Sandoval (Cruz), a PR hotshot who masterfully crafts lies for a living, and April Esguerra (Geronimo), an honest-to-goodness girl who has difficulty masking her true emotions. After the successful TV series “Dolce Amore,” Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil’s love team more popularly known as LizQuen will make a comeback on the big screen in the upcoming Star Cinema film “My Ex and Whys,” which will soon screen in key countries worldwide via TFC@theMovies.

Followers in and outside the Philippines have witnessed how the two Kapamilya stars evolved as actors in their recent TV series. Before the series, they were first paired in the film “She’s the One” in 2013, with Bea Alonzo and Dingdong Dantes. Their first lead film was “Just the Way You Are” in 2015 which was immediately followed the same year by another film, “Everyday I Love You.”

Now, after a year of skipping the silver screen, the love team is back and will star in a light but relatable film which will show how their characters they will portray will be engaged what in the words of Gil, is a “more mature relationship” compared with their previous characters.
Describing their roles, Gil first talked about his character Gio: “I play a playboy who will try to prove he has changed.”

On the other hand, Soberano will portray Gio’s ex-girlfriend Cali. “My character is very modern – a blogger – who is hesitant to fall in love again. She is afraid to get hurt all over again),” Soberano says.

Gil teased that the audiences will surely relate with their characters, especially since most of the scenes in the film are based on stories of real people.
In the story “My Ex and Whys,” Cali, the blogger dreams of being a social media influencer. The popularity of her blog skyrockets after her exchange of messages with social media user @DahilListBoy goes viral. She grabs the opportunity and meets him, only to find out that he’s her ex-boyfriend Gio who has once broken her heart and who is reaching out to win back her heart on purpose.

To have a better understanding of the film’s story, Soberano shares their tactic. “We asked guys about different situations in relationships and why men cheat” she relates.
The film started to grind last year, and some of the scenes were shot in the popular tourist spots in South Korea. This film is under the supervision of the box office director Cathy Garcia-Molina who was behind popular films like “One More Chance,” “A Very Special Love,” and “My Amnesia Girl” to name a few.

Also starring in the film are Joey Marquez, Ara Mina, Arlene Muhlach, Dominic Roque, Ryan Bang, Neil Coleta, Cai Cortez, and Hyubs Azarcon.

The much-awaited silver screen comeback of the Star for All Seasons and the award-winning box office royalty Angel Locsin, “Everything About Her,” is set to debut on worldwide screens this January and February in the U.S., Canada, Middle East, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Recently graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board, “Everything About Her” is a movie about two women who are poles apart in belief and demeanor. Santos is Vivian, a no-nonsense alpha female who is diagnosed with cancer while Locsin is Jaica, a hired nurse tasked to care for the latter in order to conceal her sickness.
The movie brings a roller coaster of emotions especially when Vivian tasks Jaica to bring home Jaica’s son Albert (Xian Lim) in hopes of rekindling their relationship. Phenomenal blockbuster star Vice Ganda confirms this. “Ang ganda. Tawang-tawa ako noong start. Iyak naman ako ng iyak noong dulo. (Ang) husay ng mga bida. (It’s good. I laughed in the beginning and cried in the end. The three leads delivered good performances.”
“Everything About Her” also stars Xian Lim in his first dramatic role outside his blockbuster KimXi loveteam with Kim Chiu. Pitted against two award-winning actresses, Xian delivered.
