After years as a young, accomplished actress, 16-year-old Bea Binene put out her long anticipated sophomore album titled “Dito Sa Puso Ko” released by PolyEast Records. On November 9, she will launch the album at the Harrison Plaza event center showcasing her ten new singles to entertain her legions of loyal fans.



The teen sensation is back to deliver the same high-energy performance to follow up the explosive success of the debut album “Hey It’s Me, Bea!”. Bea’s career in the pop world is in full swing as she returns with her teen pop tunes and a stage presence that commands full attention. “I really enjoyed doing the album…it’s like playing but creating something that I am really proud of at the same time” says Bea.



After dropping her successful debut CD, "Hey It’s Me, Bea!" the young singer/actress did not waste any time immediately heading back into the studio to record tunes for her sophomore album despite her busy schedule. “Hey It’s Me, Bea” was released last year and reached its Platinum record status-- an impressive feat for a 16-year-old juggling a successful career and home school at the same time. Unlike the previous album, “Hey It’s Me Bea” which she was joined by teen heartthrob Jake Vargas in a duet, the new album boasts a duet of Bea and Ken in an Ogie Alcasid hit in the 90s “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang”, the reminiscent Lea Salonga hit “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal” and the danceable “Whoops Kirri” only proves that the album has plenty to offer, evidenced by this enjoyable pop tracks with the sparkling jam between the two young artists.



“Asa Ka Pa” is the only original track in the album which Bea says, “I like the song because the experience of singing it is new to, because first, it’s a new compostion. The lyrics speak more than a love song or being young itself.”



Though she may seem like just another actress turned singer, Bea offers something more than what everyone expected. Bea, 16, is definitely a multifaceted artist behind young actress sheen and proudly gives a new flavor with the album “Dito Sa Puso Ko”-- from soft, slow ballads to upbeat-pop songs you’ll find yourself singing along to. Handwashing is very important!  We need to do it regularly and as a mommy, I make sure that my kids take it as a habit to wash their hands.  I am glad that my kids are fond of washing their hands and they make it sure that their hands are clean.

We have many routines and activities in the house and my kids are required to have their hands washed before and after.  Some of these routines are eating, playing, after using the Comfort Room and other things like helping their Grandmother water the plants.  I'm very thankful that my kids makes it a habit already. 




Recently, I attended one of the biggest celebration of Global Handwashing Day in the Philippines lead by  Unilever Philippines.  This is the first time that I attended this kind of celebration and I am glad they have something like this to make everyone be aware of handwashing and cleaning.  This is Unilever Philippines' way of continuing their commitment to help improve a billion better lives worldwide by 2020, and ultimately uplifting the lives of Filipinos everyday.

A global commitment through its Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, the country’s leading personal care company is targeting to teach proper handwashing to 3 million children nationwide, increasing the program’s reach from just 1 million in the previous years.



With its noble goal, Unilever’s Global Handwashing Day celebration has gained the full support of global partner UNICEF, and local partner agencies such as the Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Public Health Association, Fit for School, Inc., Knowledge Channel and the City Government of Manila.

To kick off the movement observed around the world, Unilever launched a commitment event at the Aurora Quezon Elementary School in San Andres, Manila. Several dignitaries graced the occasion, headed by Manila Councilor Roland Valeriano. Also spotted during the event supporting Unilever’s Global Handwashing Day were popular personalities like Unilever soap endorser Vicky Morales and reigning Bb. Pilipinas – Universe Arielle Arida.



During the event, Unilever Vice President for Personal Care Gina Lorenzana, Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Chito Macapagal and their advocacy partners led a handwashing commitment ceremony where 1,000 students washed their hands the proper way with soap, following a technique they learned from a short demonstration staged earlier.



The handwashing demo was led by celebrity host Tuesday Vargas and popular child actor Zaijan Jaranilla detailed the seven-step process of proper handwashing, which takes around 20 seconds:  

1. rub palms together, 
2. rub the back of both hands, 
3. interlace fingers and rub hands together, 
4. interlock fingers and rub the back of fingers of both hands, 
5. rub thumb in a rotating manner followed by the area between index finger and thumb for both hands, 
6. rub fingertips on palm for both hands, 
7. rub both wrists in a rotating manner.  

Oh, I will definitely let my kids memorize this steps to improve the way they wash their hands.



To better promote awareness on the importance of practicing good hygiene, Unilever’s Macapagal talked about the dangers of washing with water alone, a practice alarmingly commonplace in developing nations. “Studies show that washing with water alone does not kill disease-causing germs,” he said. “Washing with soap and clean water is one of the most effective ways of preventing the spread of hepatitis A, influenza, measles, diarrhea and respiratory diseases, the last two being known to kill three and a half million kids every year globally.”



“We can help put a stop to these deaths if we just follow the simple habit of regularly and properly washing our hands with soap and clean water,” Macapagal stressed.

UNICEF’s Timothy Grieve stressed that proper handwashing goes hand in hand with access to toilets, as it is most important to wash our hands after using the toilet. “With UNILEVER’s support, UNICEF is working with government, local government units and non-governmental organizations to increase access to toilets and promote proper hygiene in the poorest communities in the Philippines,” he declared. He further cited the UNICEF-UNILEVER partnership in the Philippines as part of a global initiative to ensure healthy and nurturing environment for all children.



Going beyond instilling the life-saving habit of handwashing with soap, respected newscaster Vicky Morales also headed a pledging ceremony to help develop the habit of proper handwashing.



Instilling the habit of handwashing to all students of Aurora Quezon Elementary School is the best way and the best start to introduce the cleanliness and they will definitely share it to their family members. Families will be aware on the proper handwashing to be their habit in their daily lives.
