ABS-CBN scored a grand slam win as Best TV Station from various different award-giving bodies recently and earned a total of 107 awards in combined television and radio categories, making it the network of choice among students and leaders.

ABS-CBN was recognized as the Best TV Station at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños’ (UPLB) 8th Gandingan: UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Broadcast Choice Awards; University of Santo Tomas’ (UST) 10th USTv Students Choice Awards; Holy Angel University’s 1st Paragala Central Luzon Media Awards; Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ (PUP) 1st Mabini Media Awards; and the 12th Gawad TANGLAW awarded by academicians from Jose Rizal University, Philippine Women’s University, University of Perpetual Help System, Colegio De San Juan de Letran, and other member schools.

Aside from the Most Development-Oriented TV station award given by UPLB to ABS-CBN, the institution also recognized ABS-CBN’s AM radio station DZMM and FM station MOR 101.9 as Best AM and FM stations. ABS-CBN bagged a total of 21 awards versus the network with the closest number of awards or 19 from the Gandingan, which annually recognizes programs and personalities that strive to promote development-oriented issues.

UST, on the other hand, once again gave out the Student’s Leader’s Choice of TV Network award after years of hiatus and gave it to ABS-CBN as the university celebrates its 10th year of recognizing programs and personalities that promote Thomasian values in harmony with the Catholic teachings. ABS-CBN again was the most-awarded TV station with 16 USTv awards against the other network’s eight.

Now on its 12th year, the Gawad TANGLAW (Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw) honored ABS-CBN with a total of 18 awards against GMA’s ten and TV5’s six. ABS-CBN received the major awards, including the TV Station of the Year and Best FM Station for Tambayan 101.9 (now MOR 101.9).

Holy Angel University in Pampanga recently conducted its 1st Paragala Central Luzon Media Awards where it handed a total of 13 awards to ABS-CBN versus the other network’s 11. ABS-CBN is the first TV network to receive Paragala’s Best TV Station award.

PUP also held its 1s Mabini Media Awards in February where ABS-CBN was also the runaway winner with 20 awards versus the other network’s nine. PUP, recognized as the country’s largest university in terms of student population, honored the Kapamilya Network with the TV Station of the Year award and AM Radio Station of the Year award for DZMM.

Aside from UPLB, UST, Gawad TANGLAW, Holy Angel, and PUP, students from Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) also awarded ABS-CBN with 13 recognitions from their 5th NwSSU Students Choice Awards for Radio and TV, while the Lyceum of the Philippines University gave ABS-CBN six awards in its first UmalohokJUAN! Awards.

For some of my friends they look at Fairview as if it was like a province that you need to travel far but for me and my family it is just a one ride away.  Yes, I am so glad that there are new additional establishment, new place (mall) to visit at and of course with my family to spend a great bonding moment.

Fairview Terraces is just one of the few newly opened mall in the area, and there are quite a number of restaurants and establishments that my Family can do a resto hopping experience, hahaha.

Sharing the unsung heroes of Philippine agriculture are getting due recognition with the program TOFARM or the The Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines Search and Awards as they launched last year, November 2013, a contest that depicts or lionizes farmers, fisherfold and other nurturers of the soil.

The photographs and videos are on display at the Atrim of Resorts World Manila on March 29 and 30 after the awarding of the best photos and videos at 3pm on Sunday March 30 at the Passion Restaurant of Resorts World Manila.

Contest categories of the TOFARM Photo and Video Contest are: DSLR Photos, Non DSLR Photos and Videos taken with an HD Camera. The entries must depict farmers at work on the field, with their carabao, or just having fun. The photo and video contest may tackle all fields or a sectors of farming and agriculture and may depict farmers in the fishery, livestock and poultry raising sector as well. The contest was open to all photo and video enthusiasts nationwide as it is one of the intitiatives of TOFARM to promote the farming and agricultural sectore of the Philippines as widely as possible.

Prizes at stake are as follows:

DSLR Photos First Prize - PhP60,000. Secon Prize - PhP40,000. Third Prize - PhP30,000.

The broad and long-term goal of TOFARM is to celebrate the important role of the farming sector in the Philippines and to inspire young people to return to the land and make agriculture a flourishing means of livelihood.

TOFARM seeks to identify and pay trivute to outstanding farmers, fisherfold, farm communities, cooperatives, animal raisers, women farmers, LGU's organizations, scientists, the academe, as well as business entities in rural and urban areas. The nomination period of TOFARM 2014 begins this April.  

Recently TOFARM 2014 also introduced BACKTOFARM, an agricultura rehabilitation project for farmers and farming organizations in provinces devastated by Typhoon Yolanda. The farming community in those provinces are provided with farming-specific aid ad resource such as technical assistance, seeds, and other other ways to reinvigorate their farms and assist in the implementation of sustainable farming methods.
