Bask in Hollywood glitz and glamour as Star World brings viewers the biggest awards shows and red carpet events this February. Find out which films and which stars will garner the most honors at these prestigious occasions, and marvel at the celebrities as they parade up the red carpet and set the fashion world abuzz in their stunning designer suits and gowns.

Star World is proud to be broadcasting The 55th Grammy Awards LIVE this Monday, February 11 at 9 AM to give you a sumptuous breakfast of amazing musical performances and the who’s who of and other red carpet events this February the global music industry waiting to be honored for their contributions to music. The Grammy Awards have been celebrating for more than fifty years the music and artists who have touched the hearts and souls of people around the world, and this year’s event, to be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, promises to be the biggest effort to carry on this noble tradition. A total of 81 awards will be given away this year, including three new categories: Best Classical Compendium, Best Latin Jazz Album, and Best Urban Contemporary Album. An astounding roster of artists are set to perform onstage for Music’s Biggest Night, including the usual suspects Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake as well as legends like Sting and Elton John. The Grammys will also pay tribute to the late Levon Helm of The Band with Zac Brown, T Bone Burnett (as musical director), Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard, Elton John, Mumford & Sons, and Mavis Staples. Meanwhile, Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea and Kenny Garrett will also perform a touching tribute to jazz legend Dave Brubeck.

On Saturday, the 16th of February at 8PM, get your snacks and comfy pajamas ready to spend an exciting night at home watching The 18th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. This year, the critics loved Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” so much that it received a record-breaking 13 nominations, which bested the 12 nominations of 2011’s “Black Swan”. This year’s contenders for Best Film didn’t disappoint, though, with “Les Miserables” coming close at 11 nominations, “Life of Pi” earning 9 nominations, and “Argo,” “The Master” and “Skyfall” each garnering 7 nominations. Tune in to Star World at 8 PM on February 16 to see who the critics honored the most and which films knocked their movie-loving socks off!

Celebrity buffs should plan to stay at home on the following Saturday night as well because on February 23 at 8PM, Star World will be showing The 19th Screen Actors Guild Awards, the industry’s most beloved awards show that exclusively honors performers voted for by their peers in the acting industry. Vying for the 13 awards for acting in film and television are the most talented performers the industry has seen, with nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role including Bradley Cooper for “Silver Linings Playbook,” Hugh Jackman for his outstanding performance in “Les Miserables” and Daniel Day Lewis for “Lincoln.”

Apoy Sa Dagat, A Moment With the Creative Team

Literally the phrase “Apoy Sa Dagat” was a contradicting phrase that defines two situations or characteristics that is different with each other. An element that will never jive or mix together.

Few weeks ago, me, together with the other invited bloggers were able to meet the creative team behind the roaring and sizzling teleserye on primetime. Though it was a few days before its pilot episode, news were already beaming up and more thoughts or intriguing questions flairs up. Will this new teleserye be embraced by the viewers. Well, we will definitely have the answer for that after we watched the first week of its pilot episodes. As for now the creative team behind the teleserye is eager and giggling enough to share their thoughts about this new project.

To start with, the creative team was able to share the conceptualization of this project “Apoy Sa Dagat”. For our foreign friends it is literally translated as “Fire On The Sea” or can be translated also as “Fire on Water”. Director F.M. Reyes lay the story behind the project. According to him this project was something out of the ordinary teleserye, it's more like reading between the lines.

For me, I think it is a totally weird idea of mixing fire and water and I also remember an old phrase that I think it was a song that was made into a movie. It is “Tubig At Langis” translated as “Water and Oil” which is also another materials that will never mix.

According to the creative team the teleserye was supposed to be plotted as a Caribbean Cruise but since most them agreed that they wanted to showcase instead the local spots they made some revisions of the story to jive into the great sceneries locally. Director F.M. Reyes was very anxious to share their stories about the places that they've shot with the scenes. According to him it was majestic to see those places.

The creative team also shared their working experiences with the actors and actresses that according to them they all have grown from their field of expertise. They are not the usual artists that they've worked before, it's in a new level of performance. With Angelica Panganiban, playing two roles, was able to portray two characters distinct with each other and that's something that Director F.M. Reyes was very proud to share.

The much-awaited concert of 2013 is finally coming as Korean pop superstar PSY is set to perform for the Filipino audience. Sharing the stage with the country’s comedy concert queen AiAi delas Alas with special guests: comedy duo Jose and Wally, the show titled PSY Live in Manila! will be on February 16, 2013 8:00 pm at SM Mall of Asia Arena. PSY also receives a certificate from the Guinness Book of Records for the most-liked video on YouTube. Hailed by many as comedy concert queen of the Philippines today, AiAi also promises her award-winning comedy antics and comic musical performances. Expect a night of production numbers from the veteran comedienne herself as she prowls the stage with her comic fury and undeniable talent.

Another no-brainer comedy duo Jose and Wally, evolved as mainstream comedy acts when they successfully held their first major comedy concert in 2012 impersonating today’s controversial personalities.
