3 Weekends, 3 great sports events!  For a Mom with two active boys, these activities are great for them to get into sports and perhaps I'll be becoming more of a stage mom soon, I think.


The event will cater to cyclists of all ages and abilities with different categories like the Tricycle Ride which is specially designed for young kids between ages 2 and 5, the Junior Challenge which is a more challenging category designed for older children where they have to ride as fast as they can within 30 minutes and then there’s the Foldies Community Ride which is catered to the popular folding bikes cycling community. The Alaska Cycle Philippines will also be a “Bike Ride Out”, meaning there will be no winners just plain fun to promote participation and most especially good health and an active lifestyle.



Alaska Iron Kids Philippines Aquathlon on the other hand will be held on May 25 at Club Manila East, Taytay, Rizal. Alaska IronKids Philippines is the local junior version of the international triathlon series, IronMan. The race is open to children six to 14 years old.



On June 1, Alaska will hold the Alaska World Milk Day Family Run along 30th Street corner 9th Avenue at the Bonifacio Global City. Registration is open until May 25 and categories include 3K for individuals and family, 5K and 10K races. This event will be fun filled for the whole family and there will be series of activities and simultaneous events from different parts of the country.

Meet the kids behind the big and unique voices who are ready to make their dreams come true in the highly anticipated premiere of the ultimate singing-reality search “The Voice Kids” this May 24 on ABS-CBN.



Expect the same tension in the battle for vocal supremacy as returning coaches Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, Rock Superstar Bamboo, and Broadway Diva Lea Salonga find the best voices of Filipino kids aged eight to 14. Like the other international versions of “The Voice Kids,” only three coaches will sit in the red swivel chairs and select the artists they want to mentor just by listening to the aspirant's singing voice in the Blind Auditions.

“It’s a big privilege to get to work with some amazing kids, and hopefully be able to influence them the right way,” said Lea.

Sarah said she feels a deep connection with the young artists as she herself joined several amateur and TV singing contests as a child.

“I see myself in them. I believe it’s my strength and it will help me in coaching them, because I went through everything they are going through,” shared Sarah.



According also to Sarah, the energy and the voice is the same with The Voice Kids and the previous The Voice the difference is their size. "Pinakamahirap na part ay yung sa blind audition, there are times that we console the kids and we, the coaches, help each others in hadling kids" Sarah added.

Bamboo, meanwhile, admitted coaching in the kids edition of the program would be difficult just as he had predicted, but sees it as a huge challenge. According to him, he uses mind and heart in this kind of competition "Masyadong technical and mga bata they are raw talent its more hard this season of the voice" Bamboo said.



“With adults, you already know where they’re headed as an artist. With kids, it’s still a gray area. So I carefully listen to every child so I can give justice to their performance when I comment, whether I turn around or not,” he said.

By the end of the Blind Auditions, the coaches must have selected 18 artists for their respective teams who will proceed to the next rounds of the competition.



The Battle Rounds in the kids version is slightly different from the adults version in that in the former, each coach will have to pit three members on their team by singing one song together. Only one from each grouping will advance to the Sing-Off, where six artists from each team will try to give their all to impress their coach.

In the Sing-Off, each coach must pick two artists who will get into the Semi-Finals. From these six semi-finalists, the Top 4 artists will be selected that will battle it out in the grand finals. This means that one of the coaches might have two star artists who will compete in the finale.

“The Voice Kids” will be hosted by Luis Manzano with Alex Gonzaga.
“I’ve been exposed to kids, so more or less I already know what to say to them and how to make them feel better. I like the backstage area, because they still don’t have that nervousness in them. I get to know their stories, why they’re here, the things they want to accomplish,” said Luis, who previously hosted “Star Circle Kid Quest,” “Junior Minute to Win It,” and “Pilipinas Got Talent.”

For the very first time, Luis will be working with Alex, one of the V-Reporters in “The Voice of the Philippines” Season 1.





“Members of the staff tell us we shouldn’t be working together, because we just laugh and joke around the whole time. But we’ve known each other for the longest time, and it’s honestly a pleasure to work with her,” Luis said.

Alex, for her part, prepared so much for her hosting duties especially that she’s tasked with interacting with the young artists in the ‘tension room.’ According to her, she is able to refresh everything she learned as an Education major in college.

“You have to use different techniques to deal with children, because some of them feel like ‘The Voice’ is their last shot. Before they take the stage in the blind auditions, I am there to boost their morale. They’re kids, so they might get starstruck by the coaches or get intimidated by the lights. I encourage and make them feel at ease,” shared Alex. 
This will be a much-awaited Talent Search at ABS CBN, this will help to feature and to develop more talents that the Filipino kids have.

Kapamilya hearthrob records his original songs, revives OPM classic "Si Aida, Si Lorna o si Fe" Xian Lim gets emotional with new album.

Star Records releases Xian Lim's sophomore album titled "XL2" that features three of his original compositions.


"My second album is extra special and literally too personal because it carries three of my original songs," said Xian, who launched his singing career on 2012 via his certified gold record, "So It's You."

"Recording them really made the process more excting and emotional at the same time. Because it gave me the chance to set the standards and put my full emotion in my rendition," he explained.

Among Xian's original songs are "Alay Ko Sa'Yo," "Iibigin," and "Kung Di Sa Iyo" which was one of the official theme songs of the hit ABS CBN drama series "Ina Kapatid Anak" where he and Teleserye Princess Kim Chiu paired up.

Aside from Xian's composition "XL2" also features other original tracks "Di Bale", "Keep In Mind," "Ikaw Na," "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo," and the carrier single "Pag May Time."

Xian also covered the OPM classic, "Si Aida, Si Lorna o si Fe" that was popularized by 80's music icon Marco Sison.

This mommy enjoyed the time at the Mommy and Me event which was held at SM Megamall.  It was really a fun time though my two kids wasn't with me to enjoy it.   This event happened just right before Mother's Day, so it was more of a pre-Mother's Day event for Moms who's always there for the family.

Water is very important in our lives, it is our basic necessity. There's a phrase that says “We cannot live without Water.” Yes indeed we cannot live without water and it is said that we can only live in 3 to 5 days without water. See how life assuring water is!

Years ago, I have encountered some of the Purifiers available in the market and some of them just knocks at your doorstep and tries to demonstrate their products, some of them can be seen at the mall at the appliance center. The problem with it, is that these purifiers are too pricey and too bulky, worst we cannot afford one of these. Though there are some purifiers came out and offered for an installment plan, still most of us Filipinos cannot afford one.

Recently, Unilever introduced one of their products for a safer drinking water. The product is called PUREIT. It is the largest selling brand of in-home water purifiers in the world, starting with the Excella, a non-electric water purifier that converts tap water and even untreated water into guaranteed clean and safe drinking water.

Pureit Excella is the only non-eletric water purifier that meets the microbiological safety norms criteria of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the regulatory body with the most stringent standards for safe drinking water all over the world.


Last April, Unilever's unveiled this product as on of its newest brand. The aim of having Pureit here in the Philippines is to provide safe access to safe and affordable drinking water to millions of people. Unilever technical experts across global research centers in the United Kingdom and India worked with technology partners, government bodies, and scientific and public health institutions to develop Pureit – an effective and affordable solution that provides access to safe, clean drinking water.

During the launch, one of the explanations says that the Department of Health reveals that waterborne diseases remain a severe public health concern with about 4,200 deaths and 770,000 cases of illness each year from water borne diseases. After some few explanations they demonstrated how the apparatus works and one of the sample water that will be treated by Pureit was a yellowish-colored water. It took quite some time before the cleaned water came out and I can say that it was indeed clean and safe for drinking.

Before sharing about my experience with Pureit I'll share first the state-of-the-art purification technology of this apparatus.

The first level of purification consists of three simple yet valuable layers of protection where water initially passes through the Germkill Processor that disinfects the water of almost all bacteria, viruses and germs. Next, it passes through the Advanced Microfiber Mesh that filters out precipitates such as visible and invisible dust and dirt particles, as well as metallic impurities. Lastly, the Carbon Polisher removes pesticides, chlorine, and odor from the water, before it goes to the second level of purification.

The second level purification is performed by the Micro-charged Membrane, which further purifies the water by removing any remaining parasites or bacteria – assuring families of protection against diseases. The en product is clear, fresh, and natural-tasting water that's free from harmful agents.

Okay now that you've known how the treatment goes now my experience with Pureit is next.

We usually buy a container of mineral water that lasts for about 3 to 4 days amounting to P25. That's included in our expenses, plus I have 3 years old that need to have distilled water which is another expenses. So basically we're spending around Php800 to Php1,000 a month just for water. Imagine that!

So when this Pureit came into house, I am so glad that my expenses for water alone was cut down. No more hassle of buying and carrying distilled water for the kids and waiting for the delivery boy to come to our house.

Installing and assembling this Pureit is very much simple, the manual was instructive enough to let everyone put this Pureit together. Just make sure to set it up in a flat surface to make all the fittings fit together. The box contains four big fragments that you need to put together plus the small Micro-charged Membrane that you need to install in of the fragments. It is just simple like that and thankfully that hubby knows very much when it comes to installing things like this.

At the start and as advice from Unilever Pureit team the first two to three fill of water may be smelly with a bit of taste. So my hubby did let the water get filtered two times, unfortunately it still got a bit of smell and taste so he continued to one more filtering and viola, the taste and smell were off. So to make sure I advise that you filter and change the water 3 times before using the unit.
